The bearing installs next and a socket works great for a bearing installer you just need to make sure that the socket only contacts the outer race of the bearing you don't want any contact with the inner race of the bearing. Fl400 Pilot water pump rebuild

The other part of the water pump seal is on the back of the impeller when you install the new seal again you never touch the seal surface, it presses into the impeller real easy. Blue arrow

Install the impeller on the shaft install the copper washer, the copper washer was also missing when I took it apart without the washers the nut bottoms out and does not tighten properly. USE the manual and the parts diagram to ensure you installed all the parts in the right order.

Install the nut and tighten, I use loctite on the threads since its against a copper washer and receives heat cycles. Install the gasket and cover NO SEALANT ON THE GASKET!!! You don't need a gob of sealant inside the water pump cavity to foul up the system and cause turbulence HONDA DIDNT USE SEALER!

Flip the cases over oil the bearing let it soak in good before you assemble the case on the Engine.

Oil the bushing and the bearing pockets in the case before installing the starter components.

Bottom end done crank cases hoserized for better oil flow to the bearings and better transitional flow of the air/fuel mixture out of the bottom end to the transfer ports, horrible casting flaws in these areas. hoserize the cases

Cylinder was bored, honed, ports beveled, top of the cylinder lapped flat, bunch of nasty casting flaws were removed, the newer Pilot cylinders suck compared to the quality of the earlier castings.

Changed the dowel pins for the rear Engine mounts, one was damaged from a past Engine install the other was rusted up really good so I changed it while we were able to remove it, almost didn't get the old one out, these are easily damaged so when you reassemble make sure the plates are fully seated before you tighten the bolts, if you tighten the bolts to pull the mount plates into place or to seat the plates you just damaged the dowel pins. Engine is done ready to pick up or ship? No oil is in the balancer case make sure you add the oil before running the Engine.
