Has anyone ran there oddyssey in the winter. I have a stock fl350 rebuilt top end and k&n filter. I want to run it in the winter and I couldn't find any information on it (probably should have started with the manual) but i was wondering if anyone has run one in the winter. I was planning on just changing the main a few sizes bigger, any thoughts would be appreciated. Experience in cold weather running preferred.

The manual has a section in it regarding jetting for altitude and temperature. With the K&N filter it changes the jet sizing a bit.

What main jet size do you have in it now?

I actually haven't checked yet. Im assuming its stock. I kinda wanted to get an idea of what I should do before I pulled the carb off so I could order some extra jets.

More than likely the carb has a larger than stock main jet in it due to the lack of filtration with the K&N filter, that is unless someone has smartened up and put an additional filter over the top of the K&N.

Your going to need to pull the carb and check main jet size first.

I put the K&N in this summer and I never changed the jet. In your opinion how much bigger should I go then the stock carb? and what also would you recommend for summer application. Im pretty mechanically inclined and understand how the carb works. Just my tuning experience is minimal.

Just pull the carb and find out what size the main jetting is. Until you do you are just guessing. You may be running on the edge of burning a hole through the top of the piston.

If you don't know already, you need to learn to read a spark plug to tell if you are running lean or not.

white is lean, wet is rich. I know that just trying to get a rough idea on what Ill need when it comes off. Judging by this chart I should be good with a 145 main, 4th groove, 1.5 turns out. Im at about 200 meters. Also what do you mix your gas at? It says 20:1 but i mix it about 30:1 with a good oil.

That chart is for a NON MODIFIED factory intake system. Yours is modified with the K&N.

Most of us mix a 32 to 1 with a good quality oil, not the wally world weed eater oil.

Listen to obiwan...haha. Pull the carb, you may be surprised! I was when I pulled mine... Also the belts yes I also run dayco belts which you can get the best price from advance auto. You can usually find a online coupon for. 20-30% off almost always. Good luck and keep us posted!

Hmmm, resistance to the pulling of the carb is strong in this one (said in my best Darth Vader voice). :-)

Unless you know specifically what the previous owner has done to your Ody, you will never know what size is in that sucker. I have rebuilt at least 6 of these things and I am never ceased to be amazed at what crap I have found that the previous owner has done!

you might already have a 147 in there but unless you take the carb off you will never know.

When I bought mine it had a 148 and ran pig rich. Guy had his "Engine guy" work on getting it runing good for him.

Ya.....

Mine was running perfect with a 145, but after using up the tank of gas that came with the machine, with my own mix its now rich again, so I'm going to put a 142 in it next.

But those numbers are all relative, you have a modded air intake, mine is stock.
