The pipe on the right is the exhaust, the fat or thick part is called the expansion chamber....

On the left is the carb, or intake, you can see how it pulls in air, or breaths, to mix with the fuel...

Use the force! :-)

Now your bordering pissing me off when I was learning about things like this I had to get on my bike and ride about 1.5 miles to the local crappy library then most the time the books I wanted to read were checked out and their selection of books on engines was limited to begin with, you have ALL THE BOOKS ever written on the subject AND MORE at your finger tips then you require someone like me to tell you to use Google so you can learn? WTF!

I had to BUY all my service manuals I probably have 1500-2000 bux invested in manuals I have bought over the years, I have a stack of manuals about 6' high, you can troll around the web and find your manuals for FREE then READ THEM and teach yourself 99% of what you need to know then ask what you don't understand here.

Darn I must not have saved it right. It has no motion. Check it out on hosers tech page. Note the spark plug fires every other stroke, thus a 2 cycle.

It had no motion when I posted it from my ipad. Now I'm on my win pc and it has motion. h - Did you change anything? If not must be the damn apple.

I have been looking at all this stuff online I swear I have. I have searched the same thing you put in that link. I understand how a two stroke works, its just that the exhaust side had arrows pointing back into the cylinder and that's what was confusing me. I have read all the stuff you have told me to and more. I have read the odyssey manual cover to cover multiple times and even more in the Engine section. im sorry if it was a stupid question.

Arrows you see pointing towards the Engine are the return pressure wave read about how the pipe works...

Parts coming tomorrow! WOOHOO!!! ive read and read all about reinstalling pistons and what not, but anything specific things you guys think I should watch out for/focus on?

also the guy who redressed the cylinder and got the new piston for me, said that the Engine will be able to go faster now. im sure I can find out from him but any ideas from you on how he did it?

The piston must be drilled and the exhaust bridge ground down (releaved) for heat expansion its done on all 2 strokes with an exhaust bridge

hey its all together and it works!!!!! ive taken a couple short rides already and its awesome!!! only problem is, in order to idle I have to pull the choke out and when I have it in gear and ready to move, I have to push the choke in otherwise it splutters and barely goes.... ideas?

also I need all 4 tires replaced... suggestions of places to shop?

Did you drill the holes in the piston and grind down the exhaust bridge? You have an air filter this time?

Wow you didnt read any of the right articles then. So you never answered my question. Were the holes drikled and exhaust bridge ground down? Look up how to break in a fl350 Engine before you strat it again. Stupidity will cost you lots of money.

KIWI - I thought we got through to you. I still have hope for you. Think of it this way - the new rings, new piston and the freshly machines cylinder wall do not know each other yet. You want to introduce them to each other slowly so that they gradually get to know each other. This will produce a long lasting friendship. If you force them on each other, they will rub each other the wrong way and the friendship will not last as long.

I don't know about the exhaust bridge or anything about how it was bored. all the guy said was that it would be able to run faster. and I didn't know the articles were bad ideas so ill look for different ways that sound better but I don't really know whats right and whats wrong when it comes to breaking in an Engine

It is clear that you do not know. All you have to do is ask.

You didn't want the guy doing your machine work to tell it would run slower did you? Hell no - he told you what you wanted to hear and I bet you were smiling ear to ear, hearing that. So he did the work you paid him, Engine is running, but you are having some issues. Go explain your problem to him and I doubt you will get much help.

We are trying to help you build your Engine the right way so it wil last.

Young man I'm done talking to you about what you should do or should have done.

If you have any questions I (and others on here) will help you as much as we can. So ask away.

Based on what you describe here I wonder if your idle screw needs turned in a little. When you had the carb apart do you remember the slide? The thing with the needle valve in it and the cable connected to the other end. Well that slide has a tapered spot cut out of it on the side. The taper mates with the idle screw. Basically the screw is a stop for the slide. The farther the screw is turned in, the lower the screw engages the slide on the taper, thus raising the slide increasing the idle.

It's best to adjust when the Engine is warm. Turn the screw in a little and then blip the throttle and let it idle. You do not want you idle to high and you could do damage when you put it i gear.

Much more to the carb but that may be a good starting spot.

Part of cleaning the carb is counting the turns on the adjustment screws before you disassemble. I always count how many turn in it take to bottom out the screw. The I record that and when I put the card together I bottom out the screws then back the out the same umber of turn. That gives you a good starting point.

crap... on the bottom one it says that they are out of stock but that's the wrong tire... there is a tire that I want on that screen though... its practically same treads and stuff but its the second from the left in the advertised tires row. 21x7x10 is the one

ok so ive narrowed it down to the two cheapest tires of them all that fit what I need. I don't know much about tires but I cant decide between them. ive figured out what I want for rear tires but now its the front ones.
