Hi, I am a Brit living in France and have just bought a 350 Odyssey, in great condition, but... the belt slips on any slight slope when trying to get going! The belt is new, and am wondering on any tips to overcome this problem. Great web site and many thanks in advance..... jim |

Here is some info for you: Belt Info: Honda #704148 Length: 43.33” (43 21/64”)OC Width: 1.13” (1 1/8”) Dayco HP3004 Length: 44.125” (44-1/8") Width: 1.187” (1-3/16") Dayco HP3021 Length: 43.313” (43 5/16) Width: 1.25” (1 ¼ ) We run the Dayco HP3004 and it works well. Tried running a shorter belt but that did not work well for us. Not sure what you can get in France but if you run a 1 1/4" belt it is to wide and anything shorter in length will not work well either. If you look at the measurements above you can see that the 3004 is longer but only slightly wider than the Honda. The 3021 is the correct length but a lot wider. We have found that the slightly longer belt works well even though it seems quite loose when it is installed. If you have the correct belt and it still slips it is probably your clutch. By the way it could be either clutch, the Engine or transmission. Take a felt pen and mark the face of the Engine clutch from top to bottom and go for a short ride. The felt marks should be rubbed off all the way to top if it is working correct. As for the transmission clutch you can do the same but when it is sitting there it is closed so its hard to make marks unless you do the rear clutch mod that lets you run bolts in to spread it so you can mark it. It is a simple mod. You just tap the three holes in the face. Also check the face of your Engine clutch to make sure it is not worn out (it will be dished if you put a straight edge on it). The way you explain it here my money says your belt is wrong size. We like pictures here so take a few and post. Take one of the belt area as well and post. |

Hi Jimfoster The very first thing in to work out if you are running the original OEM clutch or a aftermarket Drive clutch this in on the Engine Pictures please I would be checking the faces of the clutch. Run a straight edge across the face, so from the outside to the center and see how much wear. if warn there will be a dip under the straight edge. yeoddy |
