Post subject:  Muddbogger FL350 LQ Cylinder CSI
Mudbogger sent me his old liquid cooled FL350 cylinder for inspection.

After opening up the box and removing I felt something lose in the palm of my hand, its a chunk of the cylinder skirt.

No damage to the box it came in .

Here is where the cylinder skirt is broke.

I don't think the sleeve can be replaced since part of its broken off you would have to send to someone like LA Sleeve and ask, usually they over bore the stock sleeve and press in a new liner they usually don't fully remove a cast in liner like on this cylinder.

The tube that sticks out of the cylinder for the coolant hose is also bent.

Its hard to see in the pic but that's a .004 feeler gauge between the cylinder wall and piston, I have not taken any other measurements other than this quick and dirty method of testing http://pilotodyssey.com/PO/viewtopic.php?t=3115

I cant get a .005 feeler gauge to fit, gut feeling guess is the clearance is .0045, I didnt waste my time taking precise measurements since the cylinder is broke if you want exact measurements let me know.

The piston actually looks good, very low hours, it could be reused as is, you also could send it out for skirt coating also.

Their is some slight scuffing on the skirt, the coating would take care of that, the piston was never over heated the wrist pin floats in and out easily, you can tell Hare had it jetting with his signature super FAT jetting heh

Its hard to get good pics of the piston inside but their pics make it look 100x worst than it is .

Looking at the wiseco piston chart this cylinder was on second bore.

Shame its broke it had 3 bores left..

I am so mad I cannot even reply back to this thread-MY APOLOGIES.
I sent the motor (( Internal Combustion Engine ? )) to Triple EEE complete, so unless it was broken in the motor (( Internal Combustion Engine ? )), it broke there or was damged between there and your place, but the box seems to have no damage but who knows?
The bore as told to me was not straight and needed 2 -3 bores at least to get it straight and by that time it would be on the last bore.
The piston wall clearance as well was off from what I was told, I remember it to be over 50-close I guess-
They did HOWEVER say the piston was reuseable- :-)

If you shipped it UPS and had the extra insurance on it, you may still be able to file a claim for damages.
They have a habit of dropping boxes from heights (aka loading docks) to see what they can break. It
couldn't hurt to at least open a claim and try to recover at least the $100 they cover without insurance.

I checked with Sara and they did not insure the shipment back-just my luck huh? I also told her about the damage and of coasre it wasn't them-figured that 1 huh?

Hoser-I contacted LAsleeve and they say I can send it to them for resleeving-the skirt issue was discussed at great length and I described the damage in detail-they still say it can be done.You still have it with Piston right?

Hoser-you still have this complete set-up right?I was told by LA SLEEVE they can indeed put a new sleeve in it-dunno but I am up to trying it-can you ship the jug to them for me by chance?Also should we ship with the piston or no?I'll of coarse send you the shipping costs immed.

hoser-LA SLEEVE said to measure the OD of the skirt-if it measures 3.385 then it can resleeved with the damage pictured.The tech says to measure it at the very top of the skirt-the broken piece does not need to be shipped as it will not be needed.They will replace it totally.
