Redskinman 350 cylinder CSI

Redskinman sent he his 350 cylinder for evaluation.

Below are as found pics (out of the box) you can see scuffing in the bore.

Here are pics after I honed the cylinder with a ridged stone hone, this shows the imperfections quite well.

The current bore is 80.05 or 3.151 " the bore is too worn to just hone and go with a new piston the cylinder will need bored to a 80.50mm

Does Honda still have these pistons?

The reed petals are bad, I tried to flip them over but they still wont seat, I suggest new reeds.

These are boyseen carbon fiber reeds? I would not recommend you getting them again as replacements, you can see they have never been flipped over, their dual stage fiberglass reeds can be flipped over doubling their life, I doubt you will see or feel any power differences between the two other than maybe on a dyno.

I flipped them over and problem corrected. They did have plenty of hours on them. I also had a set of V force 3 reeds that had comparable hours that did not have any space between the petal and housing, however the V Force reeds started to fray slightly on the corner of 1 of the 4 petals. Guess pros and cons to those brands. I have never used the stock reeds,the stock will probably outlast all of them and maybe only lose insignificant HP, my2 scense. Both the V Force and Boyesen were installed on a fl350.

Im hooked on this new RC thing and they make allot of carbon fiber parts for them and on all the boards people recommend using super glue on the edges to keep the carbon fiber from fraying I wonder if this would work on the carbon reeds?

I removed the studs and cylinder dowels from your cylinder then bored your cylinder today after work, honed, beveled the port openings, still need to drill the holes in the piston, hopefully I will do this tomorrow.

While removing the head studs one of them broke, pictures later batteries dead in camera, I am dead tired also so off to bed, sorry I been so slow but been working 7 days a week 10 hrs a day is taking its toll on me :shock:

by time I get home I just want to shower and sleep..

Finally getting a break from work, finished your cylinder and its ready to ship, again sorry this has taken so long I had no idea my day job would end up going like it has.

Here is a pic of the studs one on left is the one that broke, I found a replacement stud in my spare bolts box, its slightly longer but it wont hurt anything its the one on the right, I installed it on the exhaust side of the cylinder.

I drilled the holes in your piston, I used Loneriders spare bottom end (yeah I still have it heh) as a jig, I mount your piston on the rod with no rings then slide your cylinder on so I can mark the piston where the exhaust bridge is.

I also lapped the top of your cylinder to ensure its flat, I had to break off the rubber spacers that go over the top of the cylinder so it could be lapped, they are in the box you can glue them back on with black silicone sealer if you want.
