Turbo started a thread on his Engine here viewtopic.php?t=5915" .".. He sent me his Engine for a CSI so I started another thread here. Pulled the flywheel popped right off using the correct puller, noticed part of the stator is discolored a little, lighting coil windings getting hotter than the ignition windings?

Stator out of the way don't look like the seal was leaking.

You can see the gasket sticking out of the cases that probably why Turbo could not hold pressure on the leak down test, right now I ASSume when the big end rod bearing failed the rod then made contact with the cases and spread the cases just enough the gasket no longer has compression on it, will know for sure once the cases are split.

This cylinder was supposedly ported by ATV Racing? The only thing that's been done to this cylinder was the exhaust was modified slightly, hope you didnt pay for "porting" this is not the FIRST cylinder I seen that came from ATV Racing that was allegedly "ported" .

Balancer cover bolts were not very tight maybe TuroTexas had already removed them? Also noticed the large nut on the crank was not staked.

Usually the gasket surfaces can be lapped down enough they will seal perfectly once again, wont know for sure until I get them apart and see what the real damage is. |

Also noticed the large nut on the crank was not staked. I removed the balancer cover, and tried to remove the big nut so I left the backing down... I asked for and was told I wanted a mild porting as at the time I was only wanting reliability over Race ready... Now I want both LOL They called it a trail porting??? The exhaust side might have been done by the local machinist in San Antonio as when I replaced last piston he bored and releived the bridge... |

Pic #3550,does'nt look like much of a bridge left! Plus it snakes! Would not be very good from keeping the ring from wanting to turn. |

I hope you didnt pay ATV Racing for 'porting' or 'trail porting' because they spent about 10 minutes cleaning up the exhaust, heck they didnt even match the exhaust port, signs they just don't have a clue! Some place I have a port map of a stock FL350 I will see if I can find it and see what changes were made to the exhaust, it looks like it was raised and they might have even lowered the floor a little, don't look like they made it any wider. Anybody know the status on 350 cranks, can you still get a new crank from Honda, how about rod parts? Speedchaser rebuilding cranks yet, on other sites I keep hearing any machinist can rebuild cranks... |

The more time that passes the more it seems ATVR is not playing very nice, its a shame the shop forman or manager is not doing their job. |

I haven't started looking yet, I saw on Service honda they had a price on the rod about $105.00 but I am waiting to see the rest of the CSI before I drop any money... In case there is a need for something different... I am kicking myself for not being prepared with a back up motor (( Internal Combustion Engine ? )), I have a back up tranny... LOL But it don't do me no good now LOL I am also going to get a second motor (( Internal Combustion Engine ? )) in the future when this one is done! |
