Anybody up for a ride next weekend. 11/27 or 11/28. Pilots, odys, quads bikes. Last day for this spot is the 28th for the season. 16,000acres. Brooks and I found a bunch of trails last month that are good for the pilots and there are still a bunch that need to be explored in the pilot/ody.

Not sure if they take NY reg or not. I know they don't require insurance for their reg. process. They advertise 60 miles of trails BUT I have done over 40 on just one side/section of the forest with the quad. I have never seen anyone patrolling the trails - ever. I have seen a ranger drive by the parking area once. Most trails are wide as they are all snowmobile trails. There are a few fast fun sections for the pilots. The other sections are rocks and technical riding, but still plenty doable with a pilot of sxs.

No, Mass does not have reciprocal agreements w/ any other states at this time. It seems in the last few years that most of the NE states have dropped such agreements. http://www.mass.gov/dfwele/dle/instructionspage.htm#ATV $30/yr for a non-resident registration.

They change laws annually out here regarding this stuff. PA recognizes CT, NY supposedly recognizes CT, but CT doesn't recognize anybody, plus there are no legal atv places in CT.
You happen to find anything about daily permits for out of state riders by chance?
My stuff is all registered in MA so I am ok, but for guys like mikd, it may be a pain to get all the paper work together on short notice. -

Sorry, I didn't come across anything other than the annual registration.

Had a great time, about 10 riders, and a tyrex. Tyrex was pretty impressive until an aftermarket rear shock broke. Did 64 miles, snowed much of the day and temps were in the mid to upper 20's. Lots of water and mud. Was able to find a few routes to link up pilot happy trails so it should make for a much longer loop for next year. Here a some pics that one of the other guys uploaded.

Very cool Mark looks like you guys had a great time. No Pilots or Odys? Love the stone house, looks like a great hang out. How far is this spot from central NJ?

The place is legal - run by the DNR - although I have never seen a ranger in the woods or parking lot. It opens in the end of May - depending on how wet it is and closes the last Sunday of Nov. After Nov. then it is time for snowmobiles.

This spot is right off exit 2 of Interstate 90 in MA. It is about 30 miles north of me.(45min ride) Takes me 1.5hrs to NYC with no traffic.

We left the trucks at 8:30 and did not return till 3:30. Brought a lunch, one guy had a rack type fuel can just in case. Some of the trails we rode would not have been pilot/ody friendly - water up to the top of the fenders on the quads, standing on the seats to get through - not that we would have hit these trails if there were pilots/odys with us, but everyone had 4x4's and winches - and cold wet feet. I didn't want to be the only pilot in the group holding people up, so I left it in the trailer for the day, would have run out of gas with the mileage that we covered anyway.

Terrain is a lot like the Maryland ride spot, but with rock ledges to climb. Lot of elevation change, tight woods trails open up to faster flowing sections, then into some rock gardens, some powerline areas, lots of elevation changes long hill climbs - don't want to fall off the edge of some of the trails.
Now that I think I have some fun routes ironed out, it will make for a good pilot ride next year. There is a campground on premises but you can not ride from the camp ground to the trails.
