Finally my first event after breaking the FL800's crank back in Feb-March at Northam Motorplex.
Diablo I'll put as much info here, and vids for you to check.
So decided to enter the Bev Drags last Sat arvo.
Beverley is a small country farming town, bout 130kms-1 1/2 hrs drive E from Perth.Lots of wheat and loads of good lookin' sheep for Big Gaz! :-)
Most thing I was concerned about was that the new Polaris 800 was'nt run in yet properly.Only runs it's had was at my mate's small track.
No long high speed stuff tho, maybe only 4 sec blasts. So the full Drag strip had me worried.
I knew if it did'nt go KAPOW after first run, then should be fine for rest of day.
Other thing was swapping the flyweights from 58g to 64g.According to the clutch charts,I should be using 64g at sealevel,58's are for 8,000'
Also did'nt have the matching spring to trial,so ran the Almond/gold one it came with.

Engagement was down from 4,200rpm to 3,800rpm,not good for dragging huh.
Then when off the line I noticed the tach was staying around the 6,000-6,500 rpm mark down the straight, should have been at 8,000rpm till finish line.
Just before(2 secs)passing the finishing witches hats, the tach would show 8k then up to 8,750rpm over the line.
So now need to work on spring change? The Almond/gold is at 150/290,now I have swapped for the Almond/Red-165/310
Tried the engagement last night while still on the trailer, and it's at 4,200rpm,so much better there.
Next will be to try an area for high speed tach tests.

So considering all this wrong clutch rate-6,500 Vs 8,000rpm,running against 1300cc BusaCudas, and barely run in 800,it did'nt do too bad.
I did win about 3-4 drags, but not by much, most I lost by about 1-2-3 pilot lengths.
Can't wait to get it into the 8,000rpm range, then back to Bev! :-)

Since all my bratts have escaped from home(and lovin' it!),none will come back and do my race vids(how selfish of them huh?? :-)
So was lucky to get one of the racer's mates to do the vids.
So lots of little ones...like Gaz has somewhere. :-)

After the event 3 of us camped overnight, what a blast, many drinks,laughs,3am hit the fart sack...next morning all the local cockies woke us up at 5:30am their REVENGE.
Worste hangover for decades...but great memories.

From the manual:

Eng at 4,000rpm,+ -300rpm,that's with a Black/Green spring 120/340,with 10-60 weights which are for 2100-2700m(7,000-9,000') on the clutch chart
Operating RPM + - 200,8,000rpm

For my elevation,basically sealevel,it's 10-64g weights on the chart,with the black/green spring 120/340.
The Pilot800 came with Almond/Gold spring-150/290,and 10-58g(9,000-11,000') weights and showing 9,000rpm(1,000rpm over) at Northam Motorplex straight,I think this is why the crank eventually broke. The 800's have a history of that, too small a PTO bearing-now have a wide bearing kit to better support the PTO end.
I ran at Bev Drags with the new 10-64 weights, and same Almond/Gold 150/290 weights for test. The eng went down to 3,800rpm(from orig 4,200),then went to ONLY 6-6,500rpm for most of strip, then 8,then 8,750 just before the finish at 220m,about 722'
Last night installed the new Almond/Red spring, 165/310,Eng up to 4,200,next test high speed.
