Anyone know of or planning a ride in or near by Colorado? Ive got three Fl350's, two running and ready and one just neads an axle (still looking). We're looking to get out and ride with some other odysseys so if you are planning an event please let me know.
Thanks ::-:

Not entirely sure. We’ve got the sand dunes in Walden, Co. Never been there but I here they’re ok, Nuke em would know for sure. Rampart range is very popular but too narrow for an Odyssey I think. Divide, Co is great. I like to ride down there. Its 30 miles west of Colorado Springs. Then there are all the trails in the National Forest. That’s all I'm familiar with but I'd like to discover some new places as well.

Walden is the best close area to ride, mostly sand stuff but some trails too. Search the board for Walden, should find some good pics and directions. Also, Pawnee bad lands co, between Greely and Cheyenne, dusty dirty n rough but can be fun also.

Thanks Hoser... You da Man!

I was looking at the Taylor Pass Rec area. Looks really nice. Huge and diverse, but a bit of a drive from Denver. However, if I was planning to stay a few days well, maybe.
Rainbow falls outside of Woodland Park looks good too.

Looks like Im probably going to Walden sometime this summer for sure. Do I HAVE to have sand tires???

Didn't know Rampart had ATV stuff? I have fished at the reservoir there quite a few times. I hear they finally opened it back up after the big fire that washed tons of ash into the lake and killed off all the trout.

I have ridden my RZR in a place my Uncle called "Bonanza" but I don't really know where it is located. I do know that camp was around 9500' elevation and we rode over 12000' in some areas. RZR did fine too, although the computer doesn't compensate for altitude changes, and it did feel a bit fat, it still chugged right along through all the trails and what not.

Bonanza is a little mountain town on the north end of the San Luis valley. Its off hwy285. You get to Villa Grove and turn west the go roughly 10 miles and your there. I saw in the news that they might be loosing thier TOWN status due to having only ONE full time resident. Go figure! It is kind of a waste of tax resources funding a one man town but Whatever.
Anyway, that whole region is full of roads to ride on. National Forest and BLM, sand Pitts and creek beds. Probably lots of good fun to be had.

I agree Rampart is too narrow and it should have its trails designated in one way. View is limited and lots of head on's and injures every year. Not for me!

Do you have any detailed info on trail rides, any GPS files, any and all info would be great I would love to ride in CO I have heard great things about the place I just don't know where to start I like riding remote areas where you can camp and ride like on BLM or forestry lands.

I have rode at Walden CO before you don't need paddles you can get by with stock tires, I only rode the dunes area their are trails that go off up into the mountains some day I will return and check them out.

I would like to locate a ride place for the hot summer time riding at a place I have never been before, I would also like to hook up with and take Drakman with me not sure how that would work with his problems with heights  but its been a long time since we have rode would like to see him again (he lives in Arvada CO)

Thanks.

Im trying to figure it out myself but check out Taylor park near Aspen, it looks perfect and the reviews are excellent. Regulars comforts and wilderness camping, no park or access fees just a once a year OHV stick for full state acces to National Forest and BLM. Cool mountain air and plenty of water with elevations up to 12000ft. Have I sold you yet? Lets plan a trip.

I am sold after reading that first review Taylor Park is as ATV friendly as you will find, with towns allowing you to drive through without any problem. If you spent a month of riding every day, we are not entirely sure you could ride all the trails that exist. I just need to work out all the details like camping that review is centered on getting into my wallet just a typical 'first you go here pay these people then you go her buy this then go here to eat the best food you ever ate' bla bla bla I am looking for the BLM or Forestry lands where I can boondock for a month and it cost me nothing, looking for the Flying J and the walmart where I can spend a few nights FREE and restock with gas food, dump the shitter then head back out again :-)

What will you be taking for the ride I will probably just be taking my RZR and the 400EX both I have rode to 7k feet with no jetting issues no clue how they will act to higher elevations, not sure I want to take the Pilot their on the first trip, don't want to haul the Pilot 1100 miles to find out the trails are more enjoyable with the quad or RZR, looks like the Taylor Park Reservoir is at about 9300 feet, the Forest Service Facility looks to be right before you get to the Taylor Park Reservoir on Cottonwood pass rd (209)

Top of the list is finding some GPS files from someone that has already rode these trails and verified them I hate working off the maps or buying books and using their maps most are crappy and very outdated it also sucks stopping to read a book at each trail marker lol.

Here is a GPS file I have found so far. http://www.gpsfiledepot.com/maps/view/161/ I download installed and converted the garmin file to a kmz you can load in Google Earth to look at, you can install basecamp and install the file and play around too :-)

I've got the three 350's and an old non-running 300 Bayou but I can get that running. Ive got my 73 GMC motorhome ill be driving. You know like the one rv in the movie stripes. Its bag ass air ride and front wheel drive. Ill bring a collection of jets and make them work for me. From what I can see the trail system is VAST and very accommodating. What time of year?

You have pics of the RV I always wanted one of them, how is the condition of yours? Shame GM stopped making them they were cool.

What does the Bayou need?

Time of year, when its too hot to ride other places, naturally when the weather is best to ride in CO July August ?

I am having trouble getting the Forestry site to work right must have same guy that is doing the noboma care site doing this one also ? http://www.fs.fed.us/ I click on the Colorado on the menu but it returns an error I tried the forest drop down and picked Kiabab National Forest off the list (I been their before) to see if that part of the site works and it returned the site no problem http://www.fs.usda.gov/detail/kaibab/ma ... rdb5392529 do you know what forest the trails are in for the Taylor Pass Rec area is?

Thanks.

Ive got some YouTube videos of the budget restoration we did last year. Search jfawcett999 on youtube and check it out. Not sure what the bayou needs but compression is the issue. Gonna cheap out if i can and just freshen up the top end and see where that gets me. Taylor park is in the Gunnison National Forrest range.

Do a little research on the exact Engine you have in the Bayou check to see if it has a compression release if it does ensure its working properly also make sure the valves are in adjustment before you condemn the rings.

RV looks great for the age that color was bold even for back in 73 :-) Those RV's were ahead of their time, today with all the distractions built into drivers driving the high visibility color is spot on.

I went with a college sized fridge/freezer in my RV and installed a 2000watt inverter to power it, I use the inverter when on the road to run it then plug into shore power when I get to a camp site, when boondocking the fridge just runs when ever I run the generator usually about 2-3 hrs per day, I will let the generator run about an hour when cooking meals, generator also recharges my batteries that run my TV I watch at night, everything stays cool/frozen with minimal run time just start out from home with it already cooled down..

Check out this file it shows a bunch of trails not sure what ones are for ATV's or not, http://offroadinghome.djmed.net/colorado/colorado.htm you can load the ColoradoTrails.kmz file in Google Earth to explore.

Once I/we verify the trails I will send that guy the GPS files so he can add them to his ColoradoTrails.kmz file.
