Planning on getting up there Wednesday evening. Looks like I'm gunna miss the weather. Putting my quad back together this weekend and then I should be ready. I'm interested to see how the pilot performs in the sand. This will be the first trip with it. Anyone heading up?

You're going to be freezing your cojones off!

Wednesday has it at a 40% chance of snow. Supposed to be only 33 degree highs with lows in the teens for the rest of the week!

Made it to Tahoe last night. Nevada side of 50 closed along with a section of 88. So were trapped. My pickups radiator blew. So much for my weekend.

Yup my tuck got towed to a local yard and won't even be towed to my house until next week. Luckily my step dad came up to rescue me and tow the trailer home. Not sure what happened. But it blew a 6" hole in the top of the radiator.

OUCH! A 6 inch hole! WTF caused that I wonder?

Didn't think you were going to make it. Weather over the pass can be hit or miss this time of year. With the El Nino system in place this year, we are actually getting a winter early this year. Lets hope it keeps up, we desperately need the water. The hills in the area here are all covered with snow......beautiful!

I'm not sure what did it. It had plenty of antifreeze in it. I fired it up this morning to warm it up and the Engine warmed up and the gauge read normal but my heater blew cold air. I grabbed the heater hose before the valve and it was hot. After the valve it was cold. I'm not sure what was causing this blockage but I'm thinking it had something to do with it. Gauge was normal until after a few thousand feet on the highway then the gauge jumped to hot and she blew the f up .

Sounds like a bad heater control valve. That valve just stops the flow of the coolant to the heater core. Shouldn't cause it to over heat and build excess pressure. I would guess you have a 16-18 lbs cap. It should have released any pressure over its limit. It must be bad. Is it a plastic tank radiator? I be t it is. Sounds like you didn't get the Engine hot enough to do any damage. If it has tits or wheels sooner or later......

The tow company actually got my truck home last night. I checked the valve and it was clear. Put a new radiator, thermostat, radiator cap on her and filled it up only to find that my water pump is dumping also. Oh well I borrowed a truck and jammed up to the dunes today.

Finally got to ride the pilot in the dunes. Runs great! After a little jetting. Weather is good.

I believe I saw you on your way home today passing through Carson City. It was about 12:10. As I was waiting in line at Dutch Brothers, and I saw a red truck hauling a Pilot and a quad heading South on 395.

Hope you had a good time and didn't get too cold!

Post more pictures please!

Yup that was me. Had a good time. A little cold but nothing unbearable. Got a lot of riding in yesterday. Pilot needed jetting yesterday first thing. Jetted her up and she ran great. Ran about a tank of fuel through it and let it sit. Several hours later I refueled it and went out again but this time it ran very poorly. Seemed too rich at that point. I don't know if it was fuel related or if it was the temperature change. I'll have to check it out after I fix my truck. Banshee had fresh top end, after the break in and some jetting it ran great. Everyone in our group was safe and had a good time.
