POOA Campgrounds Silver City II Campground: 800-359-1909 - I called and they see no reason to reserve for during the week. If you plan on going on the weekend, please call ahead to make a reservation, otherwise it is first come, first serve.

Count me in, far as I know am going but things can change between now and then,
going to Silver Lake in the past has always been a blast I hate to miss the trip.

I happen to be on vacation that week, so I'll stop by.

You don't need paddles, air down your tires to 3psi and GO!

Would love to make it for a few days but there aint no way I can do a mid-week. If all the planets line up maybe just MAYBE, I'd try to shoot out Thursday or Friday and catch a few good days of riding. Is this place decent for bikes?? or are 4 wheels ppreferred/required??

Bikes are fine there. Most run a sand paddle.

If anyone is in contact with the participants of the Midwest Jambo, could you tell them I turned back home after the weather looked so bad as I got near Grand Rapids. I know, the weather was probably fine at SL, but I couldn't count on it. I'll be there tomorrow (Wednesday). Thanks

Update called and connected with MGR looks like Pilotman is going home today but MGR, Gottaride
and some of their old riding buddys should be there tomorrow if it is not too hot if it
is hot they will probably just stay at camp ground under big shade tree or in
motor (( Internal Combustion Engine ? )) home...

The Weather Channel is calling for 75 Wednesday in Lansing. Did you make it there, hoser? Any idea how the sand conditions are? I may go, anyways.

I made it there was there for monday only, the sand was ok, lots of water and new lakes
from all the rain they had...

I turned the video on once I got to the end of the entrance ramp,
total length of the video up to when it went poofkaboom was 8 min.

That is one of the worst feelings in the world, when it shuts down like that. Any idea what happened?

I assumed it was the weather that made you guys leave. MGR and Gottaride filled me in. It WAS really wet up there. Down by the lake, I was running cat and mouse between the puddles. Until the puddles got too big, and the sand between them too narrow. Then I got too wet!

I wanted to be there in case some PO newcomers showed up. I knew MGR and Gottaride are regulars there, so I didn't stay very long.

No idea what or why the poofkaboom X2 number one suspect right now is the oil,
both were bearing failures, both the pistons (whole top ends) are like new just
the bearings went...

Almost any oil will protect a piston, years ago before 2 cycle oils you just mixed
regular 30 weight Engine oil at 16:1 or 20:1 and ran it , it worked good but bearing
life was shorter, now we have this new high tech oil that your suppose to run at 50:1
because it is so good and it is doing a shit job at 32:1 protecting bearings...

I'm wondering if the bearings themselves are being made poorly. In a bearing thread a couple of month's ago (I'm not sure which board), someone was bad mouthing the supplier that makes Honda's bearings. Maybe that's too strong, they were saying there were better bearings than the OEM ones.

Maybe the factory recommended 20:1 will help prolong the bearing life.

How is Silver Lakes, MI considered the midwest. I would think the midwest would be MO,KS,OK.....

The oil I use is supose to be a 50:1 oil I run it at 32:1, when I took the Engine apart
there was plenty of oil to be found in the bottom end so I don't think quanity is a
issue I think quality is an issue.

Both bearings that failed were not new bearings they also were not worn..
