My odyssey has recently been acting up. It starts 10 pulls in -8, and idles well, but as soon as you try and give it some gas to go, it bogs down really bad and dies, and it won't start again. I pulled the plug, and it was wet. I had recently replaced the plug with a b9es( the closest one i could find in my tool box!). After i put the new plug in, it started and i was driving it around, but it was running VERY rough, and wouldn't go full throttle. Should I be running a BR9es, or does it not make a difference. If it isn't the plug, should I be looking in the carb for a problem?

This one is confusing me. changing the plug should not cause your issue. However you may have damaged the wire connection to the boot when you changed your plug. Try unscrewing the spark plug boot and then cut off about 1/4- 3/8 inch of the spark plug wire. screw the boot back on and see if that corrects the issue. Based on your description of the problem I would guess that your exhaust could be plugged, but the chances of that happening at the same time you change a plug is not likely. Hence my confusion.

Check the card intake boot for cracks. check the pulse line from the Engine to the fuel pump. if the ends look chewed up I would trim them off and reseat the clamp. You can also check the return fuel by looking your fill neck of the gas tank while it is running.

Hopefully these are some things to check - Hopefully this will ID your problem.

What has changed since it ran good?

Been setting a long time?
Old gas?
Pressure washed it and put it away?
Been setting in a different than normal climate?
Intake or exhaust system is plugged with a mouse nest?
Fell off your trailer when you were doing 60 down the hwy?

I have changed the spark plug to a BR9es, but still the same old problem. I am thinking maybe a plugged exaust?

I went out again, and played with it a bit. I used some carb cleaner, and got it going nice, but after a while it just biged down bad and died on me. I pulled and pulled, but as soon as I stuck a fresh plug in it, first pull started it. Could my problem be gas mixed too rich, and it fouls up the plugs? I had it mixed to 40:1

Sorry. No it didn't fall of a trailer or anything like that. The only thing that was changed was new gas in it. I am unsure what the previous owner had it mixed to, but it wasn't fouling up the plugs.

As was already suggested, check the following:

Air cleaner/intake snorkel....clean? any obstructions in the snorkel? Is the manifold cracked?

Did you clean the carb? check the jets and make sure all is clean? Functioning properly?

Is the exhaust plugged? Mouse nests?

Put in a new, correct plug, (I forget what the manual calls for) start it in, start it, and if it dies and fouls the plug, pull the plug and take a pic and post it.

Good Luck.....
