Question: with all things being considered, what would be better? A Mossbarger water cooled cylinder, or a CR250 cylinder with a water cooled head? I'm having trouble finding any info on the mossbarger, as some of the old links lead to 'file not found' pages. I currently have two working fl250's that are pretty much stock, and have a spare frame and some other parts that i'm thinking of putting together a 3rd, but going for a bit more HP. Just playing around with ideas right now, and have been collecting parts as i find them.

I have a very heavily ported cr jug on mine with a water cooled head and balanced crank with mossbarger reed kit. It's a little slow off the line but tops out at 62mph at 9600 rpm. I'm thinking about selling it and moving on to something else.

Did you modify your piston, or did you use a 250r piston with that? I've been reading up a lot, and seeing that people say you need to do the piston modification with the reed cage, and change up the timing. Trying to plan this out the best i can before i started moving forward. Figures i saw your add mention you had an extra cr250 cylinder after i just bought one. Oh well.

the mossbarger watercooled cylinder is based off a cr250 cylinder, but with way more aggressive ports in addition to boost ports. The mossbarger will be as fast or faster then the cr cylinder, and it will be cooler with a full watercooled set up. if you can find a percision boring fl250 motor (( Internal Combustion Engine ? )) then that thing will whip the butt of anything it comes near. the percision boring engines were the fastest of the 250cc engines, and cost around 5,000 back in the day. as far as piston modification and timing is concerned, i run a stock cr250 piston in a cr250 block with a watercooled head and an aftermarket reed cage in one of my cars, and that works fine.

So on a FL250, you can put. CR250 top end on and run???

A 1973/1974 cr250 top end will fit onto a stock fl250 bottom end and run. You will need a CR250 intake manifold and carb, and you will need to use the stock FL250 exhaust manifold instead of the CR250 one
