Hey everyone .
I've been a proud owner of an fl250 for over a year now .. Thing runs like a charm ..
However I have had a small problem bugging me for a while and I feel I'm getting close to getting it figured out ..

Lights ..
So..
The lights haven't worked since I bought it ..
Today I removed all the tape off wire harness to have a solid look, cut and refit connections, cleaned up some dirty spots on wires, hooked up a small Hologen bulb and nothing but a tiny bit of really small spark as I would ground it ..
Then I went into my drawer and pulled out a led wire strip to see if I could get any light out of that and sure enough I got some !! However it was extremely dim ..
Seems as though the bike is just not sending enough power to light them up ..
I'm no wire expert but I'm not completely wiring stubborn either

What else should I check you think ?

I know its been a month, but just saw your post, figured might as well see if i could help. Did you test with a DMM at the head light? See what kind of voltage it is putting out? Remember to check with your ac setting? I'd check continuity through the system, make sure the switch is working properly, make sure wires arn't broken, etc., and if that is all good, i would ask if you have an orignial lighting coil. If so, your coil could be weak/shot, and need a rewind/replacement. You can order a new coil for like $40. you would need to take the old one off the stator plate and solder the new one on. There is not really a whole lot that can go wrong on these, as the pulse coil and exciter coil power the Engine side, just leaving the lighting coil to produce power for your lights.

Going by memory the lighting system on the FL250 is AC voltage and their is no regulator so at idle the lights are dim.

Hack the wiring system and run new wires from the lighting coil wires directly to a light bulb if the lights work better figure its something bad in the factory wiring harness, connection, wire, bad connections in the switch etc.

Also going by memory the YELLOW FL250s were 6 Volts and the RED FL250's were 12 Volt systems, this does not mean you have a 6 Volt Engine or stator in a 12 Volt Odyssey who knows what parts were swapped over the years.

Bunch of FL250 info on this site. https://www.google.com/search?q=250+wir ... oQ_AUIBigB
