What's wrong with it ??
Pictures please.
Find it hard to believe it can't be fixed until I see it for myself.

Yeah -- the socket might fly off and smash your teeth out.
Also the flex shaft will probably be to flexible and may cause another hazard. It probably won't be stiff enough and just try to unwind (if it is the same type I am thinking you are going to use).

Pictures please.

Not sure if you know how to use the site yet as you only have 5 posts but if you do then please ignore me on this reply on how to attach pictures.
1) when you hit the reply button there will be the section where you post any reply and just below that is another section that has "file name" then a blank box then a "Browse" button.
2) hit the "Browse" button
3) find the file you want to attach from the menu that will appear and click on it
4) it will then appear in that blank box I talked about above
5) then hit the "Add the file" button which is located right below the "Browse" button
6) a box will pop up with a running highlighted bar that is indicating it is downloading the file
7) when that box disappears just hit the "Submit" button

Torquing on the nut that holds the stator every time you want to start it is not a good idea. The basket that catches the pull start mechanism is mounted in 4 places for a reason.

Leaving the stator area open is not a good idea either.
