Hi all, I’m excited to form a part of this forum. I purchased two fl250s about a month ago, 600$ a piece. The yellow one is real complete and well preserved. The red one has a custom built roll cage and a DG exhaust pipe and a copper head gasket. I was able to get both of them running and took them on a trip to the little Sahara in Oklahoma. Had a blast. Have a couple questions now as to the performance and lights. What top speed should I be seeing from them? What’s their normal operating temperature? What’s the most convenient way to run led lights on them? Can a 6v battery be added? They both have the 6 v points system. Thanks in advanced for any help

Welcome to the site.
This site can be real slow at times so you have to be patient for replies sometimes.
Lets take these one at a time:
1) Top speed -- I am not sure but the FL350 will do 63 mph. Those machines you have may do around 50 mph.
2) Operating temp -- Those machines are air cooled so they do run a bit hot. Not sure on the exact temps but if I were you I would be running good quality fuel. The higher the octane rating the cooler they will run and will prevent detonation which will melt a piston. I run avgas in my three FL350's. Run good two stroke oil not some walmart crap.
3) 6 volt machines -- This could be an issue for lighting and I am no electrician so you will have to wait for someone else to chime in. Many senior members who used to race these back in the day no longer show up here or comment even if they do show. Perhaps someone will comment and help out.

Observations from me:
I see you are not wearing a helmet -- ooooooh -- those machines have limited protection and they got no suspension, so handling is suspect at best. If you crash hard like my brother and I have in the past then you're gona split your pumpkin open.
It doesn't appear that you have proper 5 point seat belts. That's bad.
I also see that you have no wrist restraints on that thing. I see broken arms in your future. When a machine rolls it's natural to put your hand out to brace yourself for impact. The wrist restraints prevent that.
