Same odyssey with new problems! That’s just the curse of older technology...but it sure is fun to work on! The Engine has developed some electrical problems and I can’t trace it down. It’s a older (77-80) Engine with an ‘81 stator. The odyssey itself is also an 81. It’s developed this issue where the Engine will produce spark until the plug is placed back in the head. Then the Engine will ‘hit’ and try to start until it dies almost immediately. After that the plug is pulled out and there is no spark. If I unplug the yellow wire from the stator to the light switch and plug it back in, behold spark returns! If anyone has any information on why this is it’s be greatly appreciated! The fuel system was just sorted out to get a running odyssey again and sure enough, something else goes wrong! Thanks a bunch!

It might not be that complicated of a problem.
You seem to be hung up on the stator.
That would be one of the last places I would look because it's difficult to get at, it's expensive, it's tough to find. Electrical problems don't fix themselves. The light is either on or it's burned out. There is no way the light bulb will "suddenly work".

This sounds like a broken wire or a bad ground connection.
My money is on a broken high tension lead on the coil.

Here read this one, it gave me fits for a long time: viewtopic.php?f=1&t=18792&hilit=high+tension+lead

The first thing you do is unscrew the sparkplug boot and cut about a 1/4" off the high tension lead.
If you're electrically inclined (I'm not) then meter everything.

Check your grounds, too. Engine to frame is very important for one.

A loose wire on the CDI (Capacitor Discharge Ignition) connector! Wow I should have found that way faster...on the bright side though with its freshly rebuilt Engine it’s FAST! But now the front right tire is about to blow! As it always goes fox one thing and another goes wrong. Thanks again for the information!
