hello, i am wondering if anyone has a "how to" or a wiring diagram for an early model odyssey? my buddy has and old one we are trying to fix up. i don't know what to check 1st when diagnosing why the lights don't work. all the wiring looks intact, i double checked the lights i mounted to make sure they were still functional. not even sure where to look to find out exactly what year it is. any help or input would be appreciated. thanx!

thanx for the link. i checked it out. i believe it is a 12 volt system. i think it has the CDI (Capacitor Discharge Ignition) ignition also since it has a headlight and a taillight stock. i don't have a manual for it either, gonna have to get one. i have never worked on a magneto charging system before. where is the assembly located on these? could it simply be something that needs cleaned up? the machine has sat in my buddys barn for at least 4 years? probably more, i had it running maybe 3 or 4 times within that timeframe. it is in decent shape for the age, tires are starting to dry rott and only hold air for about 6 hours tops! lol! appreciate all the help gentlemen, i will try to post some pics too.

no i havent seen the lights work. all the wiring looks stock. i cleaned it up and found a sticker that says 1982 on it. it had been rolled over so the headlight was broken off. it works when hooked up to my battery charger though. taillight got broken a while back. where is the lighting coil at? if i knew i would check it. thanx for all your help!

before you take the Engine apart you might want to do a compression check and a leakdown test.

just a thought

please take and post some pictures as you take it apart.

If it's currently running I'd check for voltage output at the connector right in front of the Engine and then look for a bad connection somewhere and/or defective switch on the steering wheel.
