I can put it in the lathe and machine it out, I wanted permission before I started hacking, keep in mind I could bore out the hole then discover that the thread for the flywheel end is not right, its your puller tell me how you want to proceed :shock:

You do what you think best Hoser, the tool is of no use to me if it doesn't work on that motor (( Internal Combustion Engine ? )).
Wont your dial indicator tell you what end to use?

Ok drilled and the LARGER end fits!

I will bring my welding helmet home from work tomorrow night and weld a nut on then we will see if it will pull your flywheel!

The material its made out of is hard, my guess it its stainless steel, I happen to have some stainless nuts to weld on :-)

that's cool Hoser and it is made out off stainless. Hoser what do you know about Dura Blu axles for the the Odysseys are they worth the money?I figure with this motor (( Internal Combustion Engine ? )) I might need a better axle back there.

Dura blu makes strong stuff. The stock axle will take the HP its the jumping that will do in your stock axle.

Your gear case mainly the CHAIN better be in top notch condition tho :-)

ok welded on the nut and greased up the threads screwed into the flywheel, held the nut I welded on with one wrench then turned the bolt with another and it popped right off! :-) :-) :-) :-)

Too tired to mess with it any more tonight.

Next will be to remove the rest of the ignition then split the cases to see what the crank bearings look like.

Crank seals been leaking for a while.

Keep your eye out for the rest of this one for now use the stock setup, you have a CDI (Capacitor Discharge Ignition) ignition?

Kyle seems to think if there are only 2 wires the it only needs a coil. worth checking into

The Oddy I bought is suppose to be an 84 unless things have been changed on it that should have a CDI (Capacitor Discharge Ignition) on it, it has 4 bolt wheels on the back so maybe it is.

There is some Motoplat coils on Ebay what kind of spec's should I be looking for in a Motoplat coil OMO?

Ok I am back, so sorry for the delay but my day job has been cutting into my PLAY time way to much, the end of my day job is near hopefully before it gets too HOT out, then I will be going on a LONG ride trip like the summer of the sixes!

Got to thinking last week 'wonder if the FL350 cylinder will fit this bottom end' ?

YES it does havent checked the stroke yet.

This means what ever the cylinder that came with this thing (CR480?) will fit the FL350 bottom end :-)

Cases split now the ignition is out of the way, both crank bearings are RUSTED UP and need replaced thankfully the rod was up high enough it never got wet and is ok, the seal area on the crank is very rusted and pitted up I need to clean up the crank and see if the seals will ever seal again.

Here is a comparison with the Pilot crank on the left your crank on the right.

If their is ANY HONDA Engine engineers reading this please take note, ALL the engines you build should have the double row bearings on them like they did on this Engine, this is what the Pilot Engine needs on the clutch side to cure its bearing problems.

Ok, thoughts time.

This Engine would make a cool replacement for the 250 350 and Pilot, we knew this years ago, Bill Keefe and Marv at 4x4 tuff were going to build one up as a CR500 and Bill was going to make a Engine mount so one could be bolted into a Pilot then if their was enough interest he was going to make one bolt in a FL350 also but the project stalled and never happen, the cost was suppose to be about 3500 bux and include the Engine, ignition, pipe, silencer, carb, Engine mount sounds like a lot of cash but if you look at converting a Pilot to a CR500 using ATV Racing its a deal not to mention more reliability more RPMs, more HP, no over weight power robbing water pump and balancer drive and gears, the flywheel also would weigh about 1/3 of the Pilot so the Engine would rev quickly :-)

This Engine needs more cleaning, needs new crank bearings, needs new crank seals, what ever gaskets, cylinder and head?

It also needs the rest of the motoplat setup, I need to find a FL250 flywheel to see if that crank will accept the stock Honda ignition system..

Put together a parts list Hoser and an idea where to get the parts. Is that double row bearing going to be hard to find? Looks like the motor (( Internal Combustion Engine ? )) was laying in water that crank looks pretty crusty and what kind of a crank is that Hoser?
Hoser might be just the picture but the 350 cylinder looks like its not sitting straight on the block.

So, does this mean that IF I can find a CR480R motor (( Internal Combustion Engine ? )), I can swap the jug, head, piston & con rod & it'll work?

Obviously I'd have to change some of the electronics too right?

Those case halves look a LOT sturdier than the FL250-250R case halves I got from Bill.

Watching a video of a pilot with 350hp would probably be a lot like watching Faces of Death..........

No, they were cast replacements that allow the use of an '81 to '84 ATC250R or 300R cylinder to bolt right up.

From the outside they are practically identical to the stock FL250 cases, except the cylinder studs are only about 1" tall
