I installed the replacement intake yesterday, let it sit for 24 hrs.I air leak tested the motor (( Internal Combustion Engine ? )) today-held 6 pounds for 4 hrs,PHEW!! THANK YOU GOD!! I double checked with soapy water, no leaks at all.I installed the COFFMANS exhaust will let that sit for tonight as you need black rtv around the pipe seals by the jug, then start the jetting process all over again.I installed a 185 main to start with, needle on middle slot, stock 68 slow jet. Here is some pictures for you of the finished product:

I bought a DC plastic number plate last night, I have made the decision to emilinate the headlight if I cannot get it to work properly, it falls out and rattles increadibly alot, and it is a real pain in the arse.THE NUMBER PLATES ELIMINATES THE RADIATOR gaurd, and all of the headlight/assembly too, lightens the load on the front end as well.I will try to keep it on as I do sometimes ride at night, but I do have alot of other toys to use at night as well.I also purchased an adjustable rear linkage arm for the rear swinger, it essentially lowers the rear end for better hook up, the stock 1 is not adjustable at all, it is a linkage arm off a 86-87 tecate 4 wheeler but fits like a glove. When they built these it was for pure power, the suspension was not really looked into properly, and believe me from what I read it needs to be worked on, it is a back killer!! I will be doing some front end work on the TECATE in the coming weeks, right now getting it jetted is the main concern.Heres a link to the DC plastics WEBPAGE:

http://www.dcvmx.com/xcart/product.php? ... 298&page=1

they got some halfway decent prices on old school carbs as well there --

Spoke to Tiffany at Mossbarger this morning. Bad news. They do not have any other type of rubber intakes for the Tecates, so I know have to locate a supplier of the rubber intakes. I asked if the had any type of cr 250 style anything with a degree or angled taper to it she states nothing that will work on my model year. This sucks, and I asked why do you sell them at all if it will not work? I think I may have caught her at a bad time as that did not go over well. I need to recall back and quiz her as to the options they have. Well - called back and they in fact do not have anything. I guess I will have to go to mikuni or a keihin site and see if they make them still.anybody got an idea?

update-spent all dam day in the heat to get this thing running. After trying everything I could I took the 35mm PWK out, it would not work at all, I tryed everything. It would not richen up for some reason, the plug was lean lean and more lean with every dam set-up I tryed.Dam near killed me that carb!!!I had a old, but in great shape PE 37 MM round slide from a old 250r here, so I installed that. Figured why not, try a larger carb, it seems to be fuel starved,so lets give it a go.The intake and air box fit right on it-after some hrs of jetting, needles, etc I finally got that dam plug pancake colored, it took forever!! I am currently using stock needle on the 4th groove, 52 slow jet,142 main,it blubbers alittle off the line but leans right out on the top end, pulls nicely through the powerband, and the mid range is responsive, crips, and never bogs at all.I am leaving it, it is dun-screw it!!! I do think for the future these thins need a large carb the stroke is so short a smaller carb cannot deliver the fuel in time for the stroke to fill the pulse.

Got a adjustable rear link for the ride and a DC PALSTIC NUMBER PLATE.Will post pictures later.

speed couldn't you cut the clip groove deeper and replace the old clip with a smaller ID clip (red arrow)? instead of trying to build up and grind the missing teeth (blue arrow)?

I guess it would depend on how easy it would be to find the right replacement clip.

Looks great! Thanks!
Would you be interested in making a intake for the TECATE motor (( Internal Combustion Engine ? ))?I have the mossbarger 1 I purchased,(pictured above in the thread) the alumn "plate" in the pictures needs to be at a angle for the carb to sit level, currently it sits at like a 30 degree angle upwards which does not work at all- I have a old stock OEM intake that you could use for a guide, they are no longer made and there might be a market for them on the 3 wheeelr board.Let me know and I'll ship them out to you Speedchaser-I'll send you the pictures Alumn Mossbarger intake and the old OEM for a guide.
thanks again for the great work brother!!!

ok, another update on project, after hitting the internet last weekend, I found a hard to get FINISHLINE extended axle for this project, measures 40 inches from end to end making it a +4 EXTENDED AXLE over stock.I also purchased a UNI FILTER dual stage air filter to mount directly off the carb-the stock air box will not accept the new carb's end(tm 38mm) so I will try this out for a spell.I am expecting the axles delivery today, will install with the filter, check the jetting and hopefully be done.I ALSO found a hard to get front aftermarket headlight bezel which mounts in like 5 minutes, so I can also use the headlight on night rides when needed, the stock OEM guard/mount is bulky, and takes forever to mount, pain in the arse. Also found was a hard to get rear brake calIper guard, all this stuff has been discontinued for years guys, so to find it is such a huge bonus you have no idea.

1/2 inch will be ok, I can match a filter to it, or cut back the stock air box inlet a bit if needed.Looks great Speedchaser, the manifold will botl directly yo it, with the carb sitting level correct? Will it be alumn?6061?
Is the offset correct in the pictures Speed? I thought it was a angled from top to bottom, not on it's 1 side, was the stock 1 I gave you like that?

Had some time today-installed the TM38 Mikuni Flatside carb and UNI FILTER air filter, also installed the DURABLUE wheel extenders I had here as well. The carb runs really well on the motor (( Internal Combustion Engine ? )), the internals were not touched by me at all, and it was tuned perfectly from the factory.I will try to run it as is and see how dirty the filter gets on it, the stock air box will not fit onto the carb, I tryed it for 3 hrs.

Update-took the Tecate for a ride yesterday-it would not run at all.I have done nothing to it since the last posting other then oil the filter and double wrap the stocking on it when I re-installed it onto the carb.It would start up,(but the idle was very high which I thought was odd,the idle was like a motor (( Internal Combustion Engine ? )) running low on fuel) and go to 1/4 throttle then bog out.It seemed to me it was starving for fuel-the level was low so I filled it up.Did not help, the motor (( Internal Combustion Engine ? )) just bogged down after 1/4 throttle.Would the oil, and double wrapping the stocking over the filter cause a big enough air restriction? I did not have have time to CSI the motor (( Internal Combustion Engine ? )) as I had a spare ride with me (350x)AND THE GROUP did not want to wait around for me to troubleshoot it.I figured I would post it and get some ideas.

I have had problems with filters in the past... the filter might not be breathing right and could cause massive bog...
what did you wrap the filter in?
What oil did you use of filter?
some of those filter oils are so tacky and added to the awesome filtering ability of the UNI
I bet you are air starved...
Regards
