Ok I removed the old tires from the bead locks then took them to Petes and used his tire machine to remove the 4 tires from the rims and installed those new tires on your rims.

I know nothing about the bead locks so help me here they came all sealed up on the bead side with silicone sealer is this normal or was this just the previous owner and his silicone homo fetish ?

I noticed the one rim he had silicone on the outside non bead lock side and they had used slime in the tire so after cleaning I could clearly see damage to the sealing surface had some scratches and gouges all in one area not sure what caused them but I am sure that was what caused the leak hard to believe someone missed this damage guess they wanted a excuse to use sealers and more silicone?

I used a small air grinder with a 3M pad on it most skillbillies use to remove gaskets with to buff out the scratches on the bead it should seal nice looks better than new now. :-)

So in detail tell me how to address the bead lock side of these rims please.

The new K&N prefilter came yesterday too I will work on installing not sure what direction I will point it when angle I am thinking forward and not towards the middle of the Pilot that will have it sucking hot air off the fan/radiator, your thoughts?

Only thing I can think of in regards to the silicone on the bolts is they liked silicone? or thought it would help in keeping them tight. I have never needed to use silicone on a beadlock rim.
I agree forward is the best route for the air filter, going any other way would indeed suck in warm air which is no good!

Can not locate the required fitting to do this mod only fittings I can find local measure 4.5" OD

Required fitting is a paper thin 22.5 degree 4" elbow.

Any ideas where to buy these? viewtopic.php?f=1&t=4258

Not sure, the 22.5 angle is right but it has to be a street elbow, that one looks like its female on both ends the one I need has to be a male one end and female the other end.

One end will measure 4" OD and the other end will measure 4" ID.

Its also what they call schedule 20 this is the really thin cheap PVC pipe most around here only stock the thicker types.

Edit, looking at your link again the description reads right the picture looks wrong.
Picture is correct here http://www.lowes.com/pd_89255-1814-PVC+ ... facetInfo=

Hoser, you won't find a fitting exactly like the one in my post that was the first one I did and I used a belt sander to take out all the casting marks and smoothed it out to make it look better (purely cosmetic) also someday I need to update the post showing all the steps, you also need around a 4" piece of 4" sch 20 pipe to glue into the female end of the elbow, that way you have something to protrude through the airbox lid, I cut the hole in the lid just big enough for the pipe to fit through and the thickness of the elbow kept the whole thing from falling through, glued the top let it set a day to dry, then flipped it over and glued the bottom.

Broke down went to Menards looking for fitting today all they had was a 22.5 degree that was female on both ends I found a street 90 elbow so bough it not wanting to go home empty handed after driving 25+ miles to get to a big box store.

I will see if I can cut the 90 down and make it work.

Please update that other post Afastcar...

found this email about this project tonight, thought I would include it as the project nears completion:

"I bought this 2 years ago, and drove out to California to buy it, 4477 miles of fun. I paid $10K for it, and my now asking price of 6000K will be the absolute bottom on this, as I am losing my a$$ on it! This machine is not MINT, but it is definitely a solid runner, in great condition for its age. I have only ran it about 5 short times, and I would say less than 2 hours of riding. When I bought it, the guy just had a shop do the top end. I do not know the bore, but I could have swore he said it was still stock.. This has the following goodies.. ATV racing long travel, chromolly cage, brand new ATVR pipe and silencer, powerbloc clutch, tach, pyrometer, suspension seat & firewall, wrist restraints, full belly/Engine skid plate, desert bumper, KC lights, teamtech harness, cool head, elec water pump, radiator relocate, door nets, extra axle (new), and rear paddles on beadlocks (new), and the bump steer kit. The only negatives to speak of.. The CV boots will need replacing soon, e-brake has been eliminated, the mirrors are fogged, one heim joint has slight bend (see pic), lower a-arm has a very slight bend to it (see pic), and only one crack in all of the plastic. When the long travel was installed, they did a less than great job on the rear connecting points. I have new machined mounts that I was going to re-weld in. This in not a big deal, but just more cosmetic than anything. There are no bends or dented tubing to speak of. Other than some crappy cutting and welds to make room for front bumper. The shocks are strong, with no leaks to speak of. That's really all I can say about it. It is a great running machine, I just don't have the time and space to run it like I thought I would."

" I am really burned out on selling this thing. I have dealt with so many dead leads and tire kickers, that I could just store it and forget about it. But it needs a home where someone will enjoy this sweet machine. :) If you are a serious buyer, and know what the value of it really is, then lets talk. I have about 5 guys in California and a possible buyer from Michigan that really would like to make a deal, but no commitments yet.. I really want to sell it locally,no trades, and cash in hand. This has never been titled. I was just looking into it last week, and does not seem to be a hassle. At least here in MN that is.. I have done it in the past, and it is not a big deal. I had the VIN searched before I bought it, and it shows up clean. I would be willing to meet you part way on the drive, for the cost of my fuel. Not many long travels (or any) forsale in the midwest for that matter. It took me 3 years of hunting for the right one, and still had to make the long trek to buy this one... Hate to see it go. :( But the wife sez so.."

The pic of the compression test was just taken for a board member this week. The battery was dead, and I gave it a few pulls on the rope. I think it should be a bit higher if warmed up and cranking it with the starter.

Put the filter on then sized it up against the air box. marked it out with a marker, the biggest hole saw I had was 4" so I drilled a 4" hole in the box then trimmed the rest with a pair of tin snips stuck the other end of the elbow in the hole.
