Purchased a used LT off a member here back in 2011. I had it shipped to Hoser's for a CSI and full overhaul. More pictures to come. We had started a thread on the interim board and will restart it now here!

Now Hoser has dived into the Pilot a bit, the air intake has been removed, carb slide is toast and some other skill billy stuff as well. I'll let him post on what he has found out so far on the ride. I have a partial parts list so far: air box with lid battery box complete grommets for the battery tray on frame intake with clamps(carb to airbox) battery air intake(will ship dual bracket) that's it so far. |

Mudbogger bought a LT Pilot had it delivered to my house to be checked out since the owner lived somewhat close to me. Figured I better get on it so if he needs to order parts can get the process started. The batter was dead Mudbogger said the owner said it was bad so Mudbogger sent a new sealed battery so I installed, the battery box is all jacked up, first someone installed one of them cheap low quality POS stainless steel bolt kits on this machine had I know it had all these cheap ass bolts installed I would have had Mudbogger ship it right to his place.. The two rubber grommets that go in the frame mount for the battery box are missing you have any Mudbogger? Someone drilled a hole through the battery box and mount then bolted them together rather than buying the correct rubber mounts and restoring the batter box system to its Honda design where it protects the battery from vibration, the bolting the box in transfers all the vibration right to the battery plates DUMB! Cant understand why people go out of their way to create problems for themselves.

Battery box is a little bend up but still usable getting the correct rubber grommets will cure most its problems the plastic box that protects the battery has damage but is still usable Mudbogger if you have one of these please send with the rubber grommets unless you want to take care of these items when it reaches your place?

The factory intake system was replace with some after market crap with a K&N looking filter that has no oil on it.

Compression feels low just by pulling it over by hand with the pull start. Removing the intake confirms what I already knew by pulling the pull starter its been sucking dirt.

Time to get the Engine out, only took about 1.5 hours to remove the micky mouse ATV Racing seat and firewall so I could access the Engine, those guys has to be the dumbest designers I have ever seen in my life to mount a seat like they mounted it, you can easily make a adapter to make the after market seat BOLT INTO the factory HONDA mounts and still have adjutability you don't need to butcher up the Pilot to skillbilly in their weld in mounts then cut out the factory mounts, no doubt this clueless bunch was NOT THINKING when they designed this shit. The gas tank removed. Notice the water pump inlet and outlet are sealed shut.

WTF something happen to the cable that runs from the solenoid to the starter so they spliced in a wire about 1/3 the size needed they used a piece of wire you would use to wire one headlight

Wires from the stator were routed in front of the Engine not UNDER the Engine per Honda designed so they are NOT BURNED UP from the heat off the exhaust pipe.

2 Engine mount nuts MISSING 2 other Engine mount bolts LOOSE = really screwed up Engine and transmission mounts. Guy that worked on this Pilot was a super dumbass that's for sure! 0 attention to detail was given, mistake after mistake.

Pulled the pipe off discovered the ring for sealing the exhaust flange up against the Engine as you see it in the picture no silicone sealer on the joint to seal the exhaust the guy gobbed the shit all over the inside of the Engine (read on) but had none left to seal the exhaust ? That ring is suppose to be in the groove.

Guy bought a "Performance" exhaust then apparently didnt have the slightest clue what he was looking at, you really thing those restrictions inside are suppose to be be their? This is the head pipe where it attaches to the Engine.

Here is the inlet to the silencer, how is the exhaust suppose to flow through that restriction? Later on I will show you how to fix these simple flaws.

Engine is out time to remove the clutch, surprise, their must have been a problem with the D ring because it was removed and wear washers were installed (link to this mod here later) only thing is the guy installed 4 wear washers your only suppose to install one? I gotta look at this closer it looks like a HRD rounded cover but its using the old style ALT weight blocks or the WRONG BLOCKS after seeing the rest of the Pilot I am not surprised what I will find.

Had a hard time removing the clutch had to use the "pack it full of grease" trick to get it to pop off.

Balancer case cover removed, no balancer, no gear no water pump. Can only assume the balancer went bad so rather than spend 500.00 making repairs they just used a electric pump. Plenty of silicone sealer inside.

Pull the head off, this uses a cool head with O rings no head gasket.

Dirt imbedded in the rings and the piston, rings worn out, dirt sucked right passed the crappy filter. You can see with the naked eye the rings are worn thin on the exhaust side = 90 psi.
