One of my grease seals on my driven Pilot clutch is a little worn. I found this seal at Colonial Seal company. http://www.colonialseal.com/AS1639.html. I have ordered seals from them in the past and I know some forum guys have ordered from them as well. This one has a spring and is double lipped. im not sure if the stock seal has the spring but i don't think it will be problem??. I don't want to remove the old seal until I get a new one in case I cant find a new one, I don't want to worry about damaging the old seal removing it. Any input is appreciated, thanks dudes :-)

I moved this post here and changed the name from Any reason why this seal wont work on Pilot driven clutch?? to Pilot Driven Clutch Seal 91213-HE0-003 OIL SEAL (40X47X4) Thanks Stix for the contribution to this section as replacement parts become harder to come by :-)

I don't see why it wouldn't work never really seen one leak, yours seem like its leaking? If it is check the vent system on the clutch first if its plugged it will build pressure then force the grease out the seal.

Probably leaking into the seal grease cavity and maybe could be getting past the second lip.

In the last pic, is that the breathing holes?

Yeah, you pack it all full of grease then put it back together without the spring and actuate about 20 times it will purge any extra grease out that hole to the splines, just wonder if your vent was backed up and it was building pressure blowing it out the seal?

That setup does not take much grease, as you can see by the amount of wear on parts after all these years, just a little will do, I don't see why that seal you listed would not work do you?

All these drivens I have taken apart over the years the grease still always looked good was yours dried out or anything?

Its a cool setup too bad Honda didnt make a sealed belt guard too

It could have been plugged up... I cleaned it before checking to see if the grease had hardened in the holes. It wasn't dried out and looked nice and gooey like all of the ones Ive taken apart to service. . Maybe the PO got caveman on the clutch when taking it apart and messed up the seal?? Ill order a couple of those Colonial seals and post back here how the install went and later on performance...
Thanks for the reply :-)

The seal arrived today from Colonial Seal Company. Here is the part number. AS 40x47x4 NBR

The seals look identical. Ill have to see if the Honda seal has the spring on the inner lip.

I tore apart my driven clutch today to re-grease it and put in new seals and O-rings. In preparation for this I was looking for replacement seals from Honda having not read this post. I did end up finding a Honda replacement. It is the exact same seal with the same number marked on the seal. The part number is 91211-KM1-005.

I wanted to share this info with everyone so I went to the pilot part section and then I found this thread. It will give another option in addition to the colonial seal. I am also glad to have found this thread because it talked about the greasing process and the breathing holes. Thanks Hoser.
