don't like that welded in blank off on the mag side that should be bolt on covers so you don't have to pull the Engine to get at the mag side for service.

Agreed, I never understood the need for the armor-plating on the mag side cage. Why not just bend a couple pieces of DOM tubing that fit around the recoil!?!? That's what I'm doing.

For $1200, that Engine and parts should be cleaned up to look / run like new with some bling!

I don't care who's selling it, if someone is advertising a "refurbished Engine" for a hefty price...I want to see pics of the before & after OF THE EXACT Engine I'M BUYING, a pic of the compression gage readings, the math on the bore/pistons, and a list of what was replaced or upgraded.

Otherwise just list it as a "USED Engine."

You can pick-up a complete "used" Rotax 470, the mount, modify the pipe yourself...and prob save yourself about 50%. But, the price seems to be fine since people are buying!?!? There is always a price for convenience. ;)

For someone like me who has no welder or fabrication experience,or access to lots of used rotax engines,it looks like it would be useful. In Texas theres not a lot of snowmobiles we can pull an Engine out of :-)

Or an list of recits would be good too

Yes but like redskinman said if you don't live in an area where there are sleds then its an convience

I agree with D$* I picked up my 537 for $180 compression is great
All the Engine needs is new gaskets so ill have $250 into the Engine by the time it's done then I could call it referbished :-)

Looking at the 470, any opinion? 583 looks good too but have
Herd great things about the 470.
Plus I bileve it's a little smaller size wise.
Joe

i would personally go with the 470

less power to tear up the trans

He is giving me the choice of either.
Joe

I would prefer single intake
Jetting would be Easyer
And so I could make an air box

I went with a 38mm single on my 440 Pilot setup and a single pipe my Engine makes more power than my full modified Pilot Engine did it also makes plenty of torque, nice thing about the rotary valve Engine you can play with the intake timing set it up for more torque or more RPM, my Engine was designed to run 8700 RPM I and running about 7400 RPM peak.

In the future if you want more power they do make 44mm or is it 46mm carbs you can try or even try the dual 38mm carbs if you feel your lacking power.

Had my clutching at 8200 RPM for a short wile Engine made noticeably more power but it was all wheel spin.
