Who's Pilot is this Rocketman or Redrider? 1989 Honda Pilot FL400 - $4800 (Statesville NC)
http://charlotte.craigslist.org/snw/5080078763.htmlSelling my 1989 Honda Pilot I've had for 14 years. I currently have two. The other is a highly modified long travel suspension version. This is my back up. I decided to get a Rzr to do some trail riding and need to make some room in the shop (also have dirt bikes and an Adventure bike.)
The low center of gravity and snappy two stroke
Engine make it a blast to slide and ride. And they are not afraid to jump a little either. The Pilots are a blast.
The following are videos of us riding at Durhamtown Plantation in Georgia:

It has aftermarket front and rear bumpers. Beadlock rear wheels. Douglas .190 fronts.
Powerbloc clutch. Unifilter air filter when only the best will do. The
motor ((
Internal Combustion Engine ? )) has been ported for a noticeable power increase and very nice power delivery. The cylinder was prepared by Bore Tech which involves impregnating the cylinder walls with "diamond hard cylinder carbide particles." I've had this done to both Pilot motors with excellent results - it is extremely durable.
http://bore-tech.com/Carbide%20Bore%20ProcessThe radiator has been relocated making it much easier to access the carburetor. It also allows for better cooling - this is a common mod for the Pilots. I've had eight Pilots and do this mod to any I ride any length of time.
With the roll cage, racing style harness and wrist restraint straps the Pilots are extremely safe. I would say the safest dirt toy out there by far.
Now this is not a "pretty" Pilot. It's got it's share of scratches. If you are looking for a trailer queen to polish and admire look somewhere else. It is a runner as you see in the videos. I've been running it and MAINTAINING it for 14 years.
Ever time I've thought about selling this thing I've back out after going for a ride. But it is time.
The Pilots are electric start with a pull starter back up. The controls are on the steering yoke - front and rear brake levers and a thumb push throttle. It is very easy to operate. Forward and reverse with a centrifugal clutch (like a snowmobile) so no shifting. It is easy to haul as it will bit in the back of a full size pick up. Other technical information:
