I finally got to go for a ride today, I bought my 350 about two weeks ago and decided it was time. I had expected some powerout of it but not what I got. It was a blast, but I did find some problems with it, Belt began to slip so I need a new one. I think I filled my starter up with oil because it stopped working and completly drained the battery. (orI hope that is what drained it) I also found out that the rear brake cylinder don't work when it blows a seal. But used park brake and continued to ride. So now I need a rebuild kit for the starter and the rear brake cylinder plus a new belt. in all that ain"t to bad for the first ride. If anyone knows where I can get any of the kits I'm needing please let me know. I did notice that sometimes when I would gas it it would bogg for a second and then come to life. I think it could be the fuel line getting to hot, I plan on rerouting it. Has anyone tried (and I'm sure someone has) to install a cooling duct that runs from the top of the frame behind the drivers seat down to the Engine for extra air movement across the head? Just food for thought. any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Some members have installed actual fans on the top of the head for additional cooling, or converted to a water cooled head running a water pump or thermosypn sytems.

All sounds normal for a machine that old lmao, fun they are...

I would first remove the starter and see what it looks like inside, for example read this about Fatcats starter, it also has other info that might interest you http://www.pilotodyssey.com/PO/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=9826 If the starter is bad it should not drain the battery because the only time the starter is connected to the battery is when you push the button to start the Engine, the button is a switch that sends power to another switch called a starter solenoid that sends power from the batter to the starter for as long as the button is pushed, now if the solenoid sticks the starter will continue to turn until the battery is dead. Doubt this is your problem I would first charge the batter and ensure the battery is good, then make sure you have it in neutral or it wont start.

I think some place in the service manual hose routing is shown you might give it a look.

How hot was it outside when you were riding? I ordered a 4" bilge blower for a boat to see if it could be used to force air on a FL350 Engine should be here tomorrow look forward to a review.

Plenty of info on 350 brake systems and all the known problems, rebuilding, bleeding, adjusting etc. any questions just ask we have many brake experts here.

What about the front brakes they working?

Welcome to the site.

I have a 4 inch ducted fan blowing on the top f the cylinder of the wife's Ody. Seems to work well. It will get a good test this weekend as temperatures in my area will be around 100 degrees. I was looking to use the 2 Atwood bilge fans I have to cool the Ody somehow. Hoser, I will be looking forward to see what you do before I try and re-invent the wheel.

Birvin, as far as seals for the master, they are discontinued so you will need to do some searching. Maybe a member has a master seal he can sell you. I don't know if anyone has tried to see if there is an O-ring that will fit. The main piston seal is a square shaped O-ring. I would believe that there has to be something out there we could use. The scraper seal is also a square seal but it has an additional lip on it to scrape the crud off the pison as it moves in and out. That one will be a little tougher to figure out.

That fan looks to be the exact same fan I have for a VW heater assist kit that I didn't install in my 66 bug. Those are what I'll be working with also.
