Well finally got some pics of the 2 mod'd shafts.
I don't know much at all about these, except was told they are for Subaru CV driveshaft conversion.
Came in a bucket of spare parts when I bought a complete trans from Eastern States.
They look to me to need hardening?
They have slight surface rust on them,I quickly wire brushed them to try and give more detail.
I rang Oddozzie-Dave Mac-Melbourne for more info,he will chime in too with what he knows.
He told me when they were running those type in their races there, had no probs at all.
Fatpussy-Dave,and BS,have 1st dibs on these as promised. Then they are open to anyone.
I'm asking US$150 each, because in Aussie dollars the conversion would be dearer,at US $1.05/Aus$1.00
Our Aussie dollar is actually worth currently US$1.05
I will take one to my local post office for postage cost to USA.

I'm going to sit this one out Mr. Baz. I've got a really nice set of axles on mine and I don't think it's gonna see much more hard riding. Thanks for keeping me in mind.

Is this a oem Subaru part that is used to convert a 350 axle to a cv joint? Is this correct?

It's a custom output shaft for the 350 trans to use Subaru shafts of some kind. Texting pics now!

Hi Guys, These shafts were made in very limited numbers about 8 - 10 years ago, maybe only 3 or 4 made from my memory of them. They are not finished, they were made up soft and have to be heat treated/case hardened to be used, not a big deal but it has to be done or they will just twist and snap.

They were made to make the CV conversion easier, ie no need to modify the inner Subaru CV, just slide it straight on. The CV conversion requires the outer uni joint to be cut off and a CV grafted on to the male axle section, that gives you both CVs. The axle shaft itself can be cut, sleeved and welded to length from the Subaru axle shaft. I think there may have been an axle shaft that did fit unmodified but i just can't remember now.

To make it work properly you will need to add an extra arm ( we used threaded rod with left and right handed heim joints) from the lower frame rail to the lower section of the bearing carrier. The arm is necessary because the CVs will pull apart without it. It also makes for safer riding, if you have ever had a uni joint break on an FL350 you will know what i mean. If the standard uni breaks on a FL350 you usually destroy the shock as well in the resulting endo.

The metal upright that bolts onto the top of the bearing carrier and attaches to the frame with the short heim jointed arm should be modified as well, it just needs to be made higher by around a inch so that the arms are all working in the same plane or the rear end may bind, depends on how much plunge the CVs allow.

We used any CV that was small enough to fit, my set up was Ford Laser CVs, so not limited to just Subaru and my setup used the inner FL350 uni section that clamps to the final shaft with the 2 bolts.

I did advertise on the old Kiowa site for broken FL350 axle parts to make these up as a kit but there was no interest back then. I would NOT cut up good uni joints to make CVs though.

I am more into Drakarts now and i am STILL making/modifing CVs,lol.
