So I posted earlier about a 84 FL250 that was for sale locally that got sold. I found another local FL250 with a couple spare units for 800.00. I can tell the red one is an earlier body style due to the straight bar behind the drivers seat. The seller said this one may have electrical issues but he couldn't quite remember.

The "custom" green and black unit I can't seem to identify. It almost looks like the body style that started in 1981. I really don't care for the looks of this one but if its got the CDI (Capacitor Discharge Ignition) system rather than the points style of the older years it may be worth cleaning up.

The third piece is a frame and some steering components that also looks to be off an earlier year model. This one would probably be disassembled for spare parts and the rest of it sold off.

If anyone is able to help discern what year is what I would appreciate it. The units are about a hours drive from my place and I am trying to debate if I want to go take a look or if it's not even worth my time. I'm trying to get my girlfriend into off roading and she doesn't want anything to do with a dirt bike. It would be nice to have a pair of running units, but I know that chopped up one won't be worth much to collectors or enthusiasts.

Thank you all for your help.

Do either of them run? the add say's you could have 2 complete running odyssey's with parts left over.
I have no idea how to tell how old the black and green fl250 is since it has a custom cage, that is how I usually can tell when they were made.

I seen this on on Craigslist but they don't have a price. not many for sale around SD.

When I called the guy I actually woke him up said he was leaving for a trip at 3 am so his memory was a bit foggy. All he really said was he thought the red one might have an electrical issue and the black one turns over but he wasn't sure if it started.

I'm not too sure if I like that custom cage look. I don't care for he looks of the early year models but this is almost too much roll cage. I think he said that one may have a cracked frame.

I'd love to have a 350 or 400 but my goodness are they expensive. I'm trying to stay under 1,000$.

Yea understanble.....you can actually pick up a 350 decently priced that's not priced super high. Just a thought considering what you might have all into a 250, you could have put that towards the 350 and been much happier :-) I have owned all 3, currently own a pilot. Night and day difference between the 250 and 350....it's like jumpin from the 350 to the 400. The 350 is a great machine.

Yeah I imagine it would be. The area I live in is not very populated so there isn't a huge for sale market here. I lived in Phoenix for a couple years and one craigslist day worth of ads there probably equates to a weeks worth here, if not more. Of course some people still don't post their stuff online so without driving around sometimes you don't find these things. We just had one in our shop last month, not sure if it was the 350 or the 400 but it was awesome. The guy wanted to trade it in and wanted way to much for it (5500?).

I had my dad stop by today to look at these since he lives close by. Not good lol. He said the red one was the best in shape, but still had some potentially major issues. It had no air filter on it, with a wasp nest in the bottom, and who knows how much water ran through the carb and into the motor (( Internal Combustion Engine ? )). Along with that potential rust issue it needs new tires. So I think I am going to pass. Even if I got it for say 200.00 I'd probably have to put triple that into it to get it going (worst case) or it may just need disassembled, cleaned, and reassembled.

I posted a new topic in here displaying what I am looking for so hopefully someone nearby has something for sale that I can pick up. I really wish I would have jumped on the first 1984 250 I found....definitely kicking my own ass for it now.
