Good afternoon gents. Looking for some help here. I have an 89 that is makes an odd noise while riding it. To better explain it, it sounds like the Engine hangs in an open state and sometimes takes for ever for it to get back into its 2 stroke sounds ding ding ding ding whaaaa ding ding ding ding. I have a video of me riding it and basically asking for someone to view the video and give me an idea of where to start. Im in northern Indiana and right now, nobody i trust as well as nobody willing to mess with a vintage collection machine. Help Help Help!!

Without seeing, hearing, or knowing what you're talking about, I'mma guess it's a vacuum leak. :-)

You're gona blow it up.
Like liduno said "vacuum leak".
Don't even start that thing again. You must pressure test the Engine. First item on the agenda is a flow test on your fuel pump. It could just be that the Engine is leaning out and the easiest test is a fuel flow test as per Pilot manual. If it passes this test then you got a vacuum leak. If it was running good until now, my money says poo fuel pump but it could be a cracked intake boot.

Ditto on the vacuum leak.

Don't run it until fixed.

Do a pressure and vacuum test on the Engine.

Either a air leak or a lot of carbon build up causing hot spots in the combustion chamber and = pre-ignition

Whats the history of this Pilot?

Fresh gas/oil?

Plug looks like?

Coolant level?

Only happens after Engine is really hot?
