I just bought a FL350 Odyssey. It runs and drives but needs some work.

One of my rear shocks is locked up solid and does not work. The other seems to be working as it should.

I need one standard FL350 Odyssey rear shock.

In the fall/winter of this year when I have the time I am going to tear down the Ody and totally rebuild and upgrade it including new long travel front and rear suspension.

I would like to ride it a little this summer though and I need a working rear shock for that.

Thanks
Bob

I don't think FL350 oem shocks ever came with duel rate spring setup like that.

I wonder if that is a works shock?.

I'd say that's actually pretty interesting. Its definitely a stock FL350r shock and NOT a Works etc. Someone obviously changed out the stock spring to a dual rate.... Actually that's not a bad idea what-so ever. In fact its such a GOOD idea that I wish the rates of those blue springs were visible on all those nice photos and then I would consider buying dual rate springs for my stock shocks. BTW the stock SHOCK aint that bad, but the stock SPRINGs are terrible.

My thoughts - you should buy that shock. Why? Well simply you can get going quickly by just swapping out the locked up shock's spring that you have with these dual rate springs - getting it back to single rate spring while making your machine drivable.

2nd and actually more important in my opinion, you'll be able to measure length, coils, thickness etc of those blue springs, and then order another set. Post the spring values here, and I can help you find suited springs, and also have a nice set of FL350r dual rate springs. That would be completely BADASS!

Why would you want a dual rate spring? Lets just say.... the stock FL350r rear spring rates were way too stiff from the factory. They're like 240lb spring actually. They barely give at all. Anyone serious replaces them with WORKS shocks, OR has tried much lower spring rates. Several folks here would actually recommend dropping to anywhere between 130~150lb, including me... and they still SUCK! So if you have a dual rate setup - that's gravy on top. The bad part is I don't see where the primary spring ever comes to a stop.

AKA there is no crossover plate on that dual rate setup - so its likely just a single rate anyways unless the top spring comes to a block before the shock bottoms out, which is not showing to be the case in the photos as I don't see any wear between the smaller spring's coils (Touching indication). You could add a crossover plate possibly, or maybe even flip the stock spring guard around and cut it to create a new bind/crossover point.

BTW those look like either King or RaceTech springs.

If I had a tune-able rear spring setup on my FL350r, I'd probably shoot for 125lb over 160lb springs, and cross over at about 35% travel.

I just ordered rear works shocks for my FL 350 dual rate springs $745 delivered I don't know if that's a deal or not but it's better than busting up my back this summer also the stock ones are so stiff I got the dual-rate shocks on one of my FL 350s and they both need them it's a big investment but the ride quality is much improved
