I am thinking about trading my yfz 450 for this. It does not run owner says it lost compression. He has original airbox and snorkel, and rims, I am happy about that don't like the look of that aircleaner. Any thoughts?????

I think you both would be happy... I have a quad I am thinking of rebuilding and then trying to work a similar trade... I just don't want to fall off the quad and break a leg LOL

That thing looks awesome.
What year is the YFZ any mods to the quad and does it need anything

on a side note this guy has hood and roof but no sides? sides do so much to keep the outside where it belongs.
Regards

i would do a compression test.ask the guy to remove the exhaust so you can see the piston and cylinder.it could be a very expensive repair.i would look at it very closly before you swap your quad for it.just my two cents jim

if your qaud is worth that much then my 2 cents would say that ody would need to be running to make it a fair trade

Its a crap shoot on a Engine with no compression it might have just stuck a ring and you get lucky and just need to hone the cylinder then install a new piston or if you get unlucky and it burned a hold in the top of the piston then sprayed aluminum into the lower rod bearing now your looking at rebuilding the bottom end, crank, bearings, seals $$$$

Before I closed the deal I would at least go over and pull the head and see what it looks like and if he will let you pull the cylinder so you can feel the rod see if its loose.

Hey, i'm new to the forums, and i just bought that oddy! So far, it's definitely not lacking in compression, and it's pulling freely. everything seems to be okay, but the fuel pump. I'm 99.5% positive, that it's just the fuel pump that's wrong with it!

Welcome.

Would you be able to post a few more pics of your machine? I just want to see the overall condition. So far looks good.

Thanks for the warm welcome! And yes, i'll gladly post some pics up tomorrow or wednesday! The oddy is in GREAT shape for being 25 years old! Almost 0 rust, original tires, rims, roof, exhaust, air box etc.

Highly recommend a pre-filter for that K&N, or better yet swap it out to a UNI filter, K&Ns let quite a bit of particles through.

welcome to site

im new here so my two sents aint worth much ! but if you like it go for it it looks pretty clean and your quad is going to loose value even if you have to rebuild the motor (( Internal Combustion Engine ? )) it will be cheaper than some broken bones and a lot less painfull. at least you will know what you have when you get it running. try to get some cash from the guy to help with getting it running. and go from there ! if he is close the next one you find will prob be 300 miles away. so if it is what you want and you like the way it looks and arent going to change much on it . then go for it dude!!! one of the koolest ones ive seen in a wile. keep us posted on your decision. he prob. has over 3500. invested in the buggy so whats the next one going to cost you and you will have to go threw it anyway. get that thing before someone else does !!! where is it at give me his number i will go get it.porkchops 2 cents
