Ah yes millwright school :-) .
All I remember an old millwright tell me back in the late 70's was: "A loose bearing will run all day, a tight bearing won't run 5 minutes".
Words of wisdom that served me well all my days.
I never snug up a taper lock with a big hammer. C3 is good for almost everything.

Somehow I knew this stuff existed and was not just told to do cranks with C3. It was in my head for a reason. Now that reason makes sense.
