I will say each position yielded different results. Some I found interesting and some as expected. Remember this was an old ALT with many many hours on it. The faces needed cleaned up and high spot cut down. The cap was cracked in two places with very wore slid's and Pucks. The D-ring in the cap was about gone and damage to the fixed shaft as well at the D-Ring location. I can now take this data and shim the spring to the Engine for a given rpm range. I also can use this to tune the spring for different ridding environments. Instead of average performance I can dial in peak performance for each. Now that the spring can be set I can start on weight in the pucks for a given effect and finer tuning. Then I will move on the Driven for a given up shift and down shift while maintaining a fixed rpm trough shifting. Paying attention to the amount of belt squeeze as not to over heat the belt.

All in all a fun little experiment for something to share with others so they may gain a little on there friend with the same set up yielding different results. Goes to show its not a one size fits all when it come to the drive clutch. Most when we by we just stick it on and go wit out understanding what the springs function is as well as how to set it up for your machine. I know when ATVR and others sent them out it came with no set up instructions.I mention because this one came from ATVR back in the (old)day.

As far as dunes go I will use my combined set up of ALT and HRD and a different Driven Spring and shim package. I know just where it need to be set at with what. That of course if I ever get back there.

Thought I would add these pics.
While I was testing this clutch I noticed the cap was a little wobbly when the Engine was running at idol. It smoothed out with rpm. I also noticed some funny wear marks when looking it over on the edges of the pucks. First thing I did was replace the bolt thinking it was bent however watching it tighten up I could see it was righting up funny. Ended up being the end of the shaft. Installed different bolt as well.
What I found was the the end of the fixed shaft was uneven from what I think was wear and time. I filed it down smooth and also filed down the D notch and fixed it write up. Much smoother engagement.
