I thought I would share my Hacker tool I use to pull crank into cases and pull case together. This made of parts laying around garage and the only specail part is the puller bolt which most have with the bearing puller sets. In the pics I used and old crank and case halfs just for mock up pics. Since there been a little sdiscussion on bearings I thought I would post up. In the book it showes a similar device with no real detail. This puller allows one to only apply presser to the inner race as its pulled onto crank and prevent beraing and crank damage just like in the book. The cost of the puller was Zero for me since I had all the parts laying around. If parts were purched it would cost around $20.00 with out the puller bolt. Note: There is no paint on the end on the puller tube. I do not want paint flakes in the bearings. Metal to metal with a light rub of two cycle oil.

Pull pics This is a hacker 2 due to the first one I made turned on the bearing face instead of just setting on the face. It worked ok but this works much better, smoother and more controlable. The head bearing and nut bearing allows for much less friction when turning and take all of the rotational force off of the tube.

More cool tools, thanks for sharing, nice work! I use them thick rubber bands for the rod so they stretch as you push pull the crank in and out of the cases, self adjusting so to speak Can see where someone turned crankshaft over without supporting the rod

"H" I ve seen you rubber bans in your pics and thought way cool idea. Even when you ship them they have them on. The rubber bands is a a great side note. I shall put bands in the puller case for future use and pics. Just did not have them handy for pics. Shame on me, Not propley prepped for pics. Look for bands, cold ones and mini car in final bottom assembly video. Note: Use rubber bands to support crank rod when setting up to pull cases. |

I got a kick out of your wire you can see the electrician showing Anything works I have even made rubber bands by slicing up old inter tubes from motorcycles and ATV tires they make nice heavy duty bands. Having them handy is a problem in my shop you would be surprised how many trips I have made to the store and forgot to buy rubber bands just one of them things you always forget to buy, when I do remember I buy 2-3 bags lol |

I'm like a farmer with the exception my wire is insulated. Got a couple pair of pliers as well. I usally have a drawer full of rubber bans from blue print. Ever since pdf files there kinda in short supply. I like the link you posted to your assembly. In one of the pics you can also see where some one used a screw driver to pry the cylinder off. I sure wish people would stop that. Theres just no need for it.
