No rush to fire it up Fully, this makes the 3rd race Engine ready to go....just need to put it in another oddy. Going to go through n assemble the Rennie Awana 4thgen Engine next....(have 2 of the 3 made)....or maybe all 3????

Hi Bob, My first 420 was a Leckich setup and ran great. I ran it for years before first rebuild. I did have lots of issues with o rings melting then exhaust getting into coolant system then blowing it out. It used a 39 pwk. Almost all of the Bob Briggs, Awana, Bob Victorino BV, etc engines i have use the Super BN watercraft carbs 54mm?....several guys onhere including Hoser use them. I here they are veryvery nice, work great(even upside down), and very easy to adjust. Simple low speed jet circuit and high speed one, twist for jetting.

So is that a 490yz cylinder ? If so what year and do the base holes line up to the oddy bottom end or does this require a re n re?

The base jug is a 350 but has been bored to accept a bigger sleeve then had a water jacket added. Also this particular one has,a different exhaust n intake welded on. I have several of these anda ton of fabbing, skill went into them. Idid not make it, just pick em up when i find em. Oh, the yz 490 pistons are, used because they havethesame wrist pin instead of a larger onelike most big pistons. We have to cut off thelong skirts of the piston otherwise it hits the bottom of the case n will not complete the revolution. Hope that answers some of the questions. Gary

G'Day Gaz,that piston looks a tad high in the pic? Have you placed the head gasket over it,will it touch at full revs?
Also looks a bit damaged right at the front edge?
Can't wait for some "Did it my way" pics/vids. :-)

Thanks very much, right to the point, that's what I wanted to know.

I have been looking close at those pics. It looks to me like they cut most of the oddy cylinder off and cut the YZ ( it could be a 500 Honda jug ) then welded the two parts together and bored the whole mess to accept the sleeve. I can see the casting marks on the water jacket on the picture which shows the piston protruding above the top of cylinder. Those cast marks are not home made. Man someone knew what they were doing. What a great job and thinking. Cool.

Looks gorgeous.

I also love the copper sealant spray and use it on all my head & base gaskets.

Would love to get my hands on one of those bearing-fed balancer covers for my G-force / Bill Keefe Engine.

Would you mind posting the diamensions of the cut out on that piston ??
Measurement from:
1) bottom (or top) ring groove to top of cut out
2) bottom (or top) ring groove to bottom of cut out
3) width of cut out

Thx in advance if you get the time to do this.

my 360 had the same window cut in it..i don't think the placement is to critical, all it is for i was told was for more air and fuel to enter and better mix of air and fuel.
