That would look pretty sweet. Are you going to paint them yourself? I wonder if somebody make a pre-made graphics kits for buses or graphic templates? Yours will have the windows blanked out right? So you can fill the whole sides from top to bottom.

You can get pre made stuff to stick on only problem is the rub rails make it hard to do any graphics each rib is about 3/4" tall and 1" wide at the base, look at the yellow pics the black is rub rails, then between the black you have one yellow rub rail..

Windows will all be removed and filled in, in the living area I am thinking RV windows like on the Ritz, not sure how I will fill them in just yet, I wanted to get a roll of painted aluminum .050 and make it one piece on the length but people say mixing aluminum and steel will cause corriosion porblems if I use steel will probably make them one at a time like a pan and replace a window for metal pan.

Right now the goal is to get it on the road and in use I can paint the windows inside black for now and live with that until I get time to finish other stuff, I want to get the rear door done then the floor, living area, holding tanks, toilet, shower, then the outside storage compartments once that is done start on the body work IE rust repair and window treatement, I am pretty sure it wont look complete on the outside for some time maybe next year, after having my other RV for 10 years I have alot of ideas to make this thing a rolling swiss army knife, looks will be last.

I think Stoneman and Pilotman would agree the number ONE mod will be generator and a/c unit installed and running :-)

Hey Hoser,

I saw a bus out on I-70 last weekend w/ drop down door like found on a trailer/toy hauler. The guy had dropped the bus back deck down so the door fit like on a normal trailer. I was really wishing I had my camera and was not driving 75mph when I saw it

Whats the story on the blue GMC across the street ?

It was written by a fellow programmer here @ work when learning .net...
I'll get some details on it and let you know...

Truck belongs to a new neighbor - restored and souped up some
I've only seem him drive it twice.

He also has a white Nova Drag car in his garage...
He gets it out about once a week just to shake the windows of all his neighbors - Open exhaust . :shock:

He is one of those MUTTS that thinks loud = power...
Even his work van has dual exhaust with cherry bombs...

otherwise he seems like a nice guy...

I changed the seat in the bus, the factory seat sucks after about 1/2 hr my whole body hurt and I felt like I needed to get up and walk around, this is the seat out of my 82 Blazer it is the most comfortable seat I have ever had I pu the other one in the Ritz between the Blazer and the Ritz I put over 200k miles on the seat.

Looks like fun no matter what THAT plan may be. You going to buy a floor buffer or just keep a mop and bucket handy? That floor looks awfull nice.

How tall is a Drakart and a Rhino looks like I will have 65' tall opening
and about 89" wide.

Floor will look like shit after a few trips in a year or so I will add aluminum tread plate to the floor in the shop.

Kid was just asking if it would be done for big west trip my reply was a few sheets of plywood and few rolls of duct tape and we could leave tonight heh

How high is the floor of "da Bus" from the ground ?

Looks like you will need a good size ramp
You might have to install a wench as pushing a broken toy
inside might be a major pain...

Looking good though - T minus 5 weeks and counting...

Damn I need to get busy....

Maybe put a 4-link with air bags in the back so you could drop the back of the bus to the ground for loading. Hey Hoser do you have air brakes on there? I read on another board a guy put a fitting on the air reservoir tank so he could run all his air tools from that tank.

Yup it does I will Tee into the system and add a 30 gallon air tank I will mount and some quick connects so I have air handy. The compressor is rated at 12 scfm.

Does it have air bags in the back? If not I wonder how much work it would be to put some of these in there:

12 CFM?? WOW!

That is a lot of air. My gas compressers are only 10 cfm for running our guns. Air tools will be no problem for sure.

that's good for most regular air tools but sanding and painting burn up some air, need 15 cfm at least

I have run air tools off of the setups on flight line fuel trucks and it worked decent. If you were really running them a lot sometimes you would have to crank up the Engine and let it run a bit to pump the tank back up, but it is a big bonus to have an onboard compressor like that for sure.

All them old flight line trucks had leaf spring suspensions. I found this article about the newer type suspensions:

An air bag system would be neat on a bus like Hoser has there because the back end sticks so far out from the rear axle that if you lowered the rear suspension say 12 inches, it would probably be like two feet or more at the rear bumper. I don't know if Hoser is still going to build a bi-fold two section ramp but with air bag setup in the back it would allow for far less of a ramp angle if it was a one piece ramp. Since the newer buses went to airbag setups I wonder if there is a bolt on airbag setup for leaf spring buses that could be installed without much hassle.

Mudbogger was in the chat looking for a bus update so here are some pics and a quick update, installed the basement storage doors, the small door at the front is for the fuel fill when I install my old 40 gallon suburban gas tank behind the factory tank I will route the filler up to this door for easy 2 tank filling.

Plenty of storage room down here, it will be a pain to fabricate and install all the boxes but in the end having all the storage area will be nice.

That ramp looks like it will fit the contour very nicely, I didn't think it would come out so well.

It looks kinda steep, are you going to put something on it for traction, or maybe put a winch in the garage? Winch might be pretty handy in case of an Engine or drive train failure.
