awesome speed, I hope to have your fabbing skills one day. why did you choose to use the extra block of aluminum to thread the breather flange instead of just taping the case directly? More room for error or such ? What will you be doing with all these bottom ends once they are completed?

There was not enough material in that area so I add some more thickness
because I didn't want to chance that thin of area to brake off if the hose barb got hit by chance
thanks SpeedChaser

from measuring today

finding the distances between the main bearings ,crank to the case half when assembled

after all the numbers floating around in my head
I started to re tap all the threaded holes in the case half's
tomorrow will start on doing some Hoser porting on the oil hole going to the bearings
then off to the dish washer for final clean as long as the Wife don't see me doing it haha :-)

Good stuff here! Where did you get you bearings from and seals. Im fixin to need all that stuff, Should I order from Service Honda or get them aftermarket? I have a couple bearing suppliers close to my shop. After talking to you and Hoser about my basket case halves I guess I will hang on to them and fix. Thanks Speed

Hello I went to service Honda for seals and new dowels
now the bearing I went to Motion Industries personal preference
service Honda is where you should go for bearings.
But if you decide to go some where else stick with the NTN bearings and numbers for the fl350 I have Above
that is the same numbers that Honda uses. The main thing is to stick with the c3 rating.

Your Case if you want to you can send it to me to look at if you would like.
Or start a new thread and I will help you with it there too as will others.

Thanks Speedchaser

Hey Speed. I might know someone here in town that can fix the hole in the case and if not I might take you up on your offer. I went by the bearing supplier today. This particular supplier had Koyo and not NTN. Im not sure if they are C3 rating, do you know. There is another supplier I can go to, I think his are NTN. Kinda upset me cause the guy said he had NTN then when I show up they are Koyo. He said NTN quit giving him "deals" on thier bearings so he started carrying the Koyo, he says they are made in Japan which means nothing to me unless they will hold up as well as the C3 rated or Honda's, BTW Service Honda can only get one of the crankshaft bearing and only has one of the balancer bearings....

This is exactly why I buy my bearings from Honda, seems now days bearing suppliers are a bunch of whores looking to buy the cheapest shit they can buy and sell to you at the same price the better bearing sold for, 20 years ago bearing suppliers would only sell the highest quality bearings and if they had complaints about short lived bearings would quit carrying that line of bearing, you also could take a old failed bearing with you to the parts house and some old guy would take it into the back room, clean it then examine it to determine why it failed then suggest a cure for the failure, 99 times out of 100 he was right, better seals, high temp grease, different bearing that had more balls in it for the same size races etc. now you take a bad bearing in the punk ass clueless mutt behind the counter says he has no clue he just sells the bearings.

My reasoning for buying from Honda is suppliers will not send them junk low quality bearings for fear of losing their account with them, I could be all wrong and am paying way too much for bearings.

the c3 rating will be at the end of the part#
and make sure that they are c3 rated
Honda runs NTN
where are your old bearings ?
If you still have them do they slide in the case half's ?
because they suppose to press in not slide
we want to check this first be for you go out and send money on bearing and find out the case half's are junk !
I have old bearing if you need them for checking the out side diameter only or find some body that can mesure the case half's bearing o.d. for you I have posted my findings in this post

thanks Speed

I have the old bearings and when I install them they do slide in tight but I can slide them in with my hands. Is this too loose, can I use a cylinder locking compound or is that out of the question. Ill have to check to see if the Koyo are c3. I will probably just go with the NTN if the other supplier isnt a liar also....unless my case halves are junk ??

as long as they don't feel lose when all the way in
you could use retaing compound but if you had to split the case again it could make problems for you later down the road. Where you would have to preheat the case to get it apart !
but it's your Engine. and I'm no expert on two stork Engines.
I just read and learn like the rest of us.

Thanks SpeedChaser

When they are installed they don't feel loose at all, but I don't have to use a press to get them in the case. I guess if my cases are on thier last leg, I might as well get another bottom end out of them and use the retaining compound. Im no expert on two storks either, just learning as i go!
