I would say its going to be a project, whats the story, you buy it as a basket case?

I see you also have a CubCadet and Lowboy... CubCadet is a Hydrostatic?

I have regular Cubs here is my latest edition viewtopic.php?t=1349&highlight=cub
I also have a 1955 Cub I hope to restore this year, a 127 CubCadet and a few older gear drive CubCadets 107 and 124 I think, one is 12hp and the other 10hp

The cub is my uncles lol, that's where we are working on this heap of stress.. Actually about three weeks ago we discovered an odyssey rotting away in a barn. Then a girl i knew had one sitting around rotting also, I got both for free :)

I actually have reinforced J-Arms installed now and all of the rollbars are painted a brilliant blue :) We're sandblasting the frame this week sometime. Ill keep this thread alive with pictures of the progress.

also, hoser, if you could check out my post in the technical section about spark problems...

The frame and other parts have been sand blasted, primered, and painted. Repadding of the seats has entered the timeline. The parking brake and caliper brakes have been rebuilt and are functioning now. I just have to wait on the Woodruff Keys to come in as the one in the flywheel was sheered CLEAN off.. good thing it was clean :)

I hope to have it all said and done by the middle of august.. but we know how that goes.

looks like a great project. I really enjoy seeing the pics of restores like this. when you get done you wont want to get it dirty though.

oh believe me its getting dirty :) . I just bought an FL350 seat for it today from JD-FL350 on this forum for a great deal at 50 bucks shipped. (if you need parts i recommend him highly). Tomorrow Evening we are putting the flywheel back together and testing the new timings and points to see if we can get a better spark this time... Also misc mig welding and reinforcements on the frame.. more pics to follow :)

Got the motor (( Internal Combustion Engine ? )) running yesterday after running into a SNAFU(word of the day) with the timings. Carb Jets fine... up next...

prime and paint the fuel tank. finish installing and painting rear rollcage base. rebuild the reduction unit and primary clutch.... im a little afraid of the reduction unit i feel as if im going to screw it up haha. Im using the tutorial provided by hodgerulz.com. http://www.hodge-rulez.com/O_Trans.htm... after all that i just gotta get up and buy some tires. and tubes.. and probably some 4 lug rims that i cant find anywhere for a good price.

I would never use a undersized chain like he did

yea that's what ive been hearing... i have two chains right now.. im gonna try the both of them to see which one has the least amount of play in it... is a little bit of play in the reduction a really bad thing? how much is ok?

check the manual. they tell you how to mark the rear brake disk and roll it to find out how much slack you have

tomorrow im painting the rear frame base and gas tank so i can mount the exhaust and hook up the fuel system (and make sure the fuel pump works haha) Ill probably post some more pics tomorrow night :)

Ill mention this was my first time ever doing upholstery... I did watch quite a few youtube tutorials on vinyl tho.

I purchased an old fl250 seat off of jd-fl350... it was 50 bucks and in need of some TLC.. that's exactly what it got... I re padded the bottom and recovered with black vinyl.. then I redyed it all with a sweet blue color made by rustoleum... im pretty impressed with how well the vinyl/fabric paint adheres to the seat... a combination of gorilla glue and vinyl tac were used to glue the vinyl down tight. The vinyl paint even seemed to "magically" restore the old dry vinyl its much more flexible that it was before.

Looks 100% better the important part is if it keeps your butt dry :-)

Exactly! Im actually thinking about putting in a center drain with some sort of circular hollow rivet.

wow that color really came back, it was just blue vinyl paint you say? I may have to go pick up some of that.

yea its specifically vinyl and fabric paint... don't buy anything that only works for hard vinyl

it runs great... psi is great after heatup... all i need now are to redo the rear fenders, reduction unit(oh dear), and put tires on this guy!

I have Frankenstein'd the rear fenders... They feel really solid... but look really harsh. Maybe a little paint will make them look a little better, or hide the zipties a little better?

that is what most fl250 fenders look like

i use 30 lb test fishing line to sow mine up

that's a good idea... fishing line would probably be a little less conspicuous!

well, cant find a good paint that will stay on the rear fenders. I'm going with a gravity system for fuel instead of stock pump system. Almost done.. just need to finish this stubborn reduction unit, do some welding to fab the 350 seat in, and put tires on it!

-my negative predictions-
The belt will shred to peices
motor (( Internal Combustion Engine ? )) will lose compression after long run
Carb problems

update: Rear end is all rebuilt and ready to go. trans is resealed and ready to go. rear tires get tubed and put on tonight.
