OK, back from maiden voyage, 517 miles, 32.9 gallons of fuel, comes out to a little better than 15.7 mpg, that was some city, about 200 mountains, and 200 hiway, it ran really well, not a single problem and was nice to make the round trip without looking for fuel. The Drakart was full when I started, put not quite 10 gallons in it and it is full again, so it probably got less mileage than the truck, but then I drove it a lot harder, gonna need new rear tires on the Drakart soon.

Got home, took out the camping stuff and coolers, then simply washed the entire interior and Drakart at the same time, dang, that diamond plate is nice, came clean and doesn't slip.

OK, how do you spell commitment?

This is how, cut a couple of giant holes in your truck.

Test fitted the windows, they go in perfectly, got dark, so hope to finish with them tomorrow.

I was just telling my wife that I sure like the ones she made for the red trailer and would she make some for this rig, no answer yet, so I am taking it as a yes. For the trailer, she made some that are vinyl and snap in, a lot better than the mini blinds in most RVs/ Draktwin

Dollar General has some very nice colors available for a dollar each by way of fiz can.

I'd venture you could squirt it pretty reasonable. :-)

This is sort of an epilog, I owned this truck for about three years, I just sold it to a friend in Silicon Valley, from now on, it will be on the crotch rocket racing tour.

For the first year, it was a work in progress, then the last two years I enjoyed it pretty much finished, with the exception of the generator which I installed early on but didn't put in a fuel tank for until shortly before I sold it.

The following photos show it either finished or pretty close. Among the things I did to it were; finished the rear with stove, fridge, microwave, hot and cold water, a fold down queen size bed, flat screen TV with DVD player, nice stereo system, doubled up the outer walls, insulated the whole thing, added roof air and a generator, had the box painted to match the cab, put some graphics on it, an electric awning that I paid only $150 for, put aluminum wheels on it, put front brakes and three new tires (three were new when I got it), and countless hours of work.

I paid $19,900 for the truck in the spring of '07, put around $10,000 into it, and sold it for $20,000 last month. As far as operating costs, I probably spent around $250 per month for fuel, etc, or another $10,000, or all combined, around $500 per month to own and operate it.

My motto seems to be, buy high and sell low. Actually when I bought it the economy was booming and now we all know where it is at now. Of course now that I have sold out, things are bound to boom again.

When I bought it, it had 36,000 miles on it, when I sold it last month, it had 65,000 miles, so I must have been somewhere in it. I figure in the three years I had it, I took about two dozen trips. Also, for the three years I had it, Ted was in Oklahoma so I had a good excuse to go there and ride. It's longest trip was out to Glamis with Ted and about 20 other Drakart owners. For the most part, it was driven at or above the speed limit, and usually got between 12 and 13 MPG.

All in all, I enjoyed the whole process, both the build and using it, I have spent countless hours with many friends that are priceless to me.

Wow, what a bummer. I wanted to see the finished pics.

Still reading through the site... does Drak still travel with the Drakart or is he retired from the hobby?

Hmm, it seems some of the pictures I posted have been lost, I have been out of town for a few weeks seeing our newest granddaughter in Boston. When I get back home I'll try to see if I can restore them.

I haven't been riding since I sold the Hauler, at the same time Ted and I sold our Tigers. From time to time I get the itch, but lack of dollars prevents me from getting back into it.
