Forget it. Buy a replacement comet 97c clutch. My brothers machine had the same issue when I bought it. We tried to order the stock replacement parts but they were expensive and on back order. Several weeks went by and we told the honda shop to shoveit. We ordered a comet. By the time you get the stuff and pay, it would be faster and cheaper to buy the comet.

94c's are really good clutches. Price is right to. Better than messing around with a 27yo clutch. Should give you many years of good service.

Jason,

The beauty of the 94C is the lack of moving parts! All that moves on the inside of the clutch us several plastic pucks.....that's it! As you have seen, the stock clutch has rollers and levers which seize and they get flat spots worn on them. The roller that is missing is probably because it wore through and then the roller broke in half. I've seen this on way too many Ody's I have rebuilt.

Do yourself the big favor and purchase a 94C.

PS.... When you install it lubricate the crap out of it with a good quality dry clutch lube. Even after that don't be alarmed that after you start it up that the clutch makes a chirping noise. This is perfectly normal, just keep it well lubricated.

Has anyone run the ribbed model? If I'm gonna get one I'm gonna get the good one. Especially if they are the same price basically.

Ribbed is always better :-)

BS, you have any more info on the ball joints?

Ball joints are pressed into the swing arms. There have been a few posts way back of someone trying to replace them but I don't know of anyone actually doing it!

There are usually some swing arms floating around from the board members here or on evil bay.

I thought you were talking about upper and lower front suspension ball joints. The rear links are all Heim joints.

PS....what's with the CAPS? Are you yelling? :-)

There's usually a supply of swing arm to be had on evilbay. The only problem is that the bushings where they attach to the frame could be worn out.

Post here on the for sale wanted section so can get a pair from a respected board member.

most of the time it is not the ball joint its the arm bushing it self

make sure by removing the arm off the spindle and off machine to check

or the tapered hole in the spindle is lose

Have a look of the inside of ball joint

I tore mine apart like speed did and the rubber is non existent and the Teflon has a groove worn around the center of it. I know there's a way to fix it I just haven't decided which way to go either the replace the whole ball joint method or fix what's there

there is not much material there to machine out and put new in

I was thinking on making new bushing out of bronze so when you re-weld it. It will not melt

Found the nut (thanks Viking) but now I have a question about the rear brakes. When I got it it had no parking brake. Ther is no cables but worse there is nothing on the rear caliper. Will the brake work without any of it? I don't really care about using the parking brake especially for the price a new caliper would cost. I can't find the parking brake setup by itself anywhere. Any ideas? I think minus this it'll be done in a day or so

Photo of the rear brake caliper?

You can run it without the parking brake
