Hello all-

I was referred here from "tedpilot", a friend over in a private forum at atvconnection.

Maybe you guys can help me out on a few parts?

So- I recently acquired an fl250 that I'd like to restore. I traded an iphone 4 and a couple hundred $$ for it.
One of the previous owners, I guess, had raced it on a track, and had built a modified roll cage on the 250 platform. At the moment,
you pretty much have to enter it from the top and drop down unless
you're a contortionist and can twist yourself in from the side.
He put the stock 250 Engine back on it when I bought it.

It has quite a bit of play in the splines where the wheel hubs meet the axle. Not sure if it's the axle or hubs that are worn.
I just ordered a stainless 5 gallon top tank for it. but I can't find a decent seat. Trying to find a high back buggy seat- but having no luck.
I can find'em for about $150-$250, but they want $120 to ship it! which is total BS imo! I can ship a flipping couch for $120!!!
The throttle cable is a bit stiff, and the steering wheel cover switches are in bad shape. The Engine has a new top end on it and does run, but I'm
considering selling the motor (( Internal Combustion Engine ? )) and replacing it with a 400 - 500cc sled Engine. The brake & clutch work great. There's quite a bit of play in the gear box- not sure what is normal-
I'll have to read up on it. Tires & rims are basically new. I'll be disassembling, cutting & welding over the next few weeks. Would love to find a high-back seat and non-worn hubs for it...

I'm in douglas, ma 01516 (about 90 minutes south of manchester NH or 25 minutes north of providence, ri)

Welcome!
I saw this listed/posted on C.L.
Congrats on your acquisition...
I am also from Mass and have a friend in Dudley... We used to practice down at Uxbridge MX....
There are alot of 250 Odyssey units in Mass... There is one listed now on C.L. as an 88 Odyssey but is more in the 82 range
regards

thanks, go oddy! :)

I'm on the fence on buying this fl350:

http://worcester.craigslist.org/rvd/3630127782.html

I offered him $1600 for it- and he accepted- needs suspension parts like b-joints and tie rods, a battery & starter solenoid.

the reason I'm on the fence is because I basically spent a couple hundred on aquiring this oddy, $1400 would go a long way into restoring this one. I found a couple fuel injected 500cc sleds on cl for $500and other than a seat and a few odds & ends, and a little hard work, I could have this thing looking & riding amazing. Plus, I really like the custom roll bar- I think it looks nice and it'll offer improved protection for when I roll it (and I will eventualy roll it :o )
however, I won't have the IRS that the fl350 has, which imo- is a big plus.

I relisted mine back on cl for the same pricee the other guy had it listed at- I figure I'll give it until my new gas tank arrives- if it sells, I'll go grab that 350 oddy, if it doesnt sell by the time the new tank arrives, I'll pull the ad and finish this one.

That's a Donaldson disposable air filter housing/cleaner canister.

They're cheap...http://www.everythingtruckparts.com/donaldson-c055003-duralite-air-cleaner

Really good dirt stopper, leaps and bounds over k&n.

looks like it has a nice filter element in the can- the whole can & filter is one unit and is clamped onto the tube.

What annoys me is that Donaldson reports NO PERFORMANCE information except for flow restriction on their website. What a joke. They know better than that! >=/

They've got an ECC and ECD version of these housing/filter units. The ECC air inlet is just outside the outlet, and the ECD flows from one end to the other.

guys! I did it! after searching for 2 days for a domestic supplier who sells nice seats and doesn't charge hundreds to ship it...

check'em out-

http://hunsakerusa.com/

this is the seat I just bought. $110 + $35 shipping :)
they have the same on in black that isn't a bolt-thru for only $80 + $35 to ship!

doesn't get better than that!!!

Did you check Summit Racing??

You can get a poly high-back Summit Racing seat for $39.95 + shipping. It's $63 to my door here in OH, but they also have a warehouse in northern OH. So may be more for MA...actually...I tried 02108 (eastern Boston) and its the same $19.45 shipping AND you don't have to pay tax like me - an Ohioan -- so its only $59.40 shipped.

where the hell were you 2 hours ago!!!!!!!! grrrrrrrrrr

well- at least the one I bought is a bolt-thru which is stronger than these seats that have a bolt thread into a mounted stand-off in the seat.
not that it's all that hard to drill a seat.

Great! Keep me updated. Strongly considering going this route seeing that I was just quoted $300 to recover the stock seat...
