Post subject:  FL500HO 4X4?

Wat's up everyone?......I'm back with a new idea.

FL500HO 4X4........I'm considering a new build using a 350 chasis and crossbreadding it with a Polaris scrambler 500HO 4X4. I have a line on the Polaris for cheap, cracked frame in several places but runs strong. My main problem being finding a 350 for reasonable, after all, I'm gonna cut it up. Grafting the single 500cc shouldn't be an issue, the 4X4 parts are a different story, I will have to adapt Polaris front suspension to Honda using struts instead of the honda stuff, should be a good project. This one won't be as easy as the last one, I'm expecting a year in build and debugging. As soon as I get a roling chaisis, game on.
I'll start pics as soon as I can.

If anyone sees a 350 around Chicago, Il., I would appreciate a heads-up on it. I'm currently working 70-90 hrs a week so my search time is limited.

Thanks Guys!!!!

Have you seen the thread on Offroad fab network where the guy builds a single seater out of a 4X4 quad? Looks easier to build the frame from scratch to me.

I'll see if I can find it.

Oh....and the guy mentions that he hardly ever puts it 4X ,and it still goes everywhere he wants.

Found it.

Even if you had a shop bend the tubing,(don't know what your capable of)it would be less headache than dicking around with an old 350 frame.IMO of course.

That thing looks crazy! Looks like he didnt get the camber set up right though. And the radiator is OUTSIDE of the roll cage! No bueno! I would much rather do a build like this one instead of converting an ody, you can use all the suspension from the quad and have a much nicer ride. Shoubadaba's cousin built a 2 seater truggy for his 2 boys using a 400ex, made the custom frame and used the quad suspension and gear. Turned out freakin awesome too.

Yeah I think the guy comments on the radiator somewhere. He said he rides really slow and didnt think there was a chance of flippin it.

There is another thread somewhere of a very similar buggy but with a steering wheel instead of the bars. Cant find it.

Got any pics/vid of it??

I really don't like the handle bars on that 4x4. A steering wheel would be much better.

Here's the video of it.

It sure can climb!

Ya I don't get why people take a arms off something and don't copy the geometry of the mounts that were on the frame. Someone that knew what they were doing figured out the susension geometry when they designed the ATV. You cant just mount them wherever you want and expect things to still work.

Why the hell do people always mount radiators and fuel tanks up high and OUTSIDE the roll cage???
Tip it over and your day is done.

Well obviously Darwin's theory is wrong then. And I was a believer before this.
