I just picked this up Friday. It has been sitting up for many years and needs some help. the fuel lines had all been removed and I have no idea where they go. the Fuel pump looks new.

first thing was to soak the carb. if you have never tried pinesol as carb cleaner you should. I will never use carb cleaner again.

the carb was jettet with a 140 main
45 slow
35 slide
and the needle is on the top clip.

the fuel lines were disconnected and the T-fitting had the return line blocked off. How can I tell if I have the correct float?

Looks nice, the 350 service manual will show the factory hose routing.

the fuel tank was rusty so I dropped it off at the local radiator shop to be vatted.

I did start it though. I used an old coolant bottle from a Polaris to supply some fuel.

Lemon or lime juice in a pan on the stove is the best carb parts cleaner I have ever seen, will have to try the pinesol thing you use it straight?

i used it straight. Google pinesol carb cleaner and you will be amazed at the results. You really don't even have to take the carb apart although i do. Just look at my pics and that is onlt a 3 hour soak. Not to mention the shop smells clean!!

small update on this project. I managed to get 3 new fuel filters today. I ordered the FRAM G4168 from advanced auto parts as discussed in this post. :-)

viewtopic.php?f=64&t=9724

the gas tank is still at the shop so no ride yet. This was supposed to take two days and it has been five. that sucks.

I did pull the steering column to clean / lube it. the steering was extremely tight. the lower end of the shaft was corroded up. i cleaned and lubed it with synthetic boat trailer bearing grease. the steering is super easy now. :-)

the left upper J-Arm bushing is worn and letting the wheel tip in. can i replace them? a bigger problem is that I think the J-arm mount may even be slightly bent. That sucks. I guess a TRX450r suspension may be necessary.

next i need to buy a battery and replaced the pull rope.

no problem.

look what followed me home last night. a 2005 trx450r with an Engine problem. (sellers pic) it may be a suspension donor for the fl350 if it is too far gone. I think (hope) that it may just be the cam chain slapping. I'll be doing a CSI later today.

(edit) the whole bottom end is trashed. dang it!!!!!

My two car garage is getting full with a 71 bronco, 90 Polaris sportsman, 50 Polaris preditor, fl350, fl450, and now a trx450r. that does not included tools, welders, metal brake, etc.

Is the Engine worth rebuilding or is it like the the dirt bikes 3-4k bux to repair?
