Picked up this major project today off Craigslist for only $250 :-) Engine is seized and one of the axles is missing the cv boot.
Of course no plastic, I got the seat also trying to clean it now it is in good shape but it was full of crap, checked the brake levers and they seem to be ok , not seized up.
Came with a LRD pipe that is probably worth the money I paid for everything :-)

The guy had his neighbor post it for him and he just said odyssey for parts $250, I looked and the pictures and I thought it was a fl350 at first then realized there was a pilot belt cover laying next to it in the pictures then finally noticed it was a pilot.
Finally got the guys address and went out and got it.
when I pulled up to the guys house I got out and said I am here to get the ODYSSEY he had for sale and handed him the money, he told me It was A 400 ODYSSEY that he was going to fix up but never got around to it.
He new it was worth more but just wanted to get rid of it.
What was really funny the guy told me about some guy up by Seattle that had parts "TNT" I would guess that sold parts but he wanted $1500 just for a tranny, I laughed and told him I know all about that guy.
Now to clean it up and see what is missing and what needs replaced..
Now I just need to find a job so I can fund this project, Maybe sell the 85 250R or the fl350 with all the extra parts.

Hopefully the flywheel is not junk that is how YOU don't REMOVE a flywheel from a Pilot your suppose to pull from the center pulling elsewhere can distort the flywheel when it flexes you can disturb the magnets that are bonded to the flywheel.

Thanks Hoser, I wont be using this Engine, Engine is junk , one of the mounts it broke off, looked like they left it outside, crankshaft is all rusted.
The cylinder and head look good I wonder happened , the cylinder , head and piston were not on it when I got it just put it on to see if it would fit.
Going to find a rotax to put in it, but that will be a while, going to fix and replace everything first then find a Engine when everything is ready to drop one in.

Here is some pics of the toast Engine, piston does have some slight damage on top but not as bad as some I have seen that people were still using and the sides are not scuffed up, the cylinder was smooth beside some slight surface rust in a few spots not scuffed up, head was good also, no damage.

at one time It had spent some time in some blackberry bushes , it had vines growing up between the seat and seat frame.
Seat it in good shape , just a little faded and some dark stains.
getting ready to take of the trashed front bumper, somebody sure liked to run into stuff with the pilot
Broke of a bolt taking the plastic cover off the front.
I am going to start working on the front end and work my way to the back.

It was on Portland Craigslist this morning, his neighbor posted it for him so I am not surprised you never got a reply.

Oh well that's my luck -- a minute late and a nickel short.

Nice score.

Can't believe that in THAT condition, the roll bar hoop seems to be straight, and not as so often banana'd rearward?

Well done Bob!

Got to work on the pilot today, when I got it it had been sitting outside with no wheels on the front end and sitting in dirt, both hubs were froze solid , after some time I finally got the hubs off, everything is rusted and it was full of spider eggs , one brake pad on each side had the friction material fall off the brake shoe.
should be fun getting all that cleaned up :-)
at least I will be able to roll it around now, it was a pain having to pick up the front end to move it.

Pulled the wiring harness off and any thing else that is not needed.
took the shifter off, it was seized up so I will have to take it apart and get it working.

I took the pilot wheels and tires I bought for $120 last year off my FL350 and put them where they belong :-) ordered some lugs nuts today since I was missing a few.
set the speedcahaser bumper on, set the seat back in and set the radiator in place.
looks like a pilot now :-)

sanded the upper cage , put on some primer then painted it flat black, one of these days it will all be flat black, just taped the bars on to see how it looks, need to get some roll cage bolts since it did not come with any.
I think I will use some truck bed liner for the foot tub and the cover on top of the cage.

Got some truck bed liner and coated the roof panel, first I cleaned the roof and sanded all the white stuff off, looks a lot better :-)

Is that bed liner spray smooth? I had the previous owner of my pilot use some super rough bed liner stuff on the foot tub and I removed it because it would tear the crap out of your legs if you were wearing shorts, just a heads up but it looks smooth in the picture :-)
