Ive had this frame for a few years now collecting dust so I figured its time to do something with it, so far ive stretched the frame 6 inches and had the final output shaft of the fl 350 trans machined to accept polaris rzr cv shafts. This is my second lt setup the first one had some issues and wasent going to be very easy to duplicate. I am also making a rear drive unit that will use the sled driven clutch and bolt in where the trans is

The rxr 900xp front axles are a little too long, im hoping the rzr 800 front axles are a little shorter and have the same spline as the 900 axle. Does anybody have a rzr 800 that they could measure the front axle on

What front end are you planning to use? There's a front assembly for an 04-05 TRX450r on Ebay for $200 bucks. Is that something that would work well for a Fl350 upgrade. I'm considerig it but not sure what parts to use.

Yay finally I hope this will be available as a kit?
Thanks.

Good to see this resurrected! Anxious to see the rear-drive setup. Hoping its simple with mostly off-the-shelf gears & shaft.

Were you thinking of doing a jack-shaft setup? Or an actual gear train?

The rear end is on hold until I make enough money to tool up to be able to machine internal splines myself, the center shaft cost me 800 and I still have to do the wheel hubs so there is another 800. I am doing this to eventually sell a kit but with those kinda prices well I wont sell any. Unless there is somebody on the board who is setup and works a little cheaper I would be glad to work with them. I have been working on a few projects though, here are some pics

Now that should become a really fun ride any more details on this build?

It should make all them 4 stroke queers cry when you blow by them after they spent 5k on some turbo setup that never works right with your stock 2 stroke :-) then they will 'get it' (the two stroke advantage).

In the picture of the modified output shaft it appears that the splines and threads for the disc brake hub have also been removed. By doing that it offsets the axles and you loose your brake hub. Was there any reason for this other than it just becomes paper thin with those splines cut into it? I've been looking into this and what ill probably end up doing is having a new shaft made with a larger diameter splined section for the brake hub. This should cure the paper thin issue on the left hand side. This would also mean I would need a different hub for the brake disc. Wich would also be good to adapt a more common brake disc that's actually available.

I am only two days into the rzr 800 build, Ive got the Engine mount done and im sending the drawings to the laser cutter on Monday, then it will be the exhaust, wiring, guards, airbox, oil injection reservoir.

I am going with outboard disc brakes on my lt 350 setup so that's why I cut all that stuff off, I am going to make my own rear hubs and carriers, the simplest thing would be to use rzr 900 parts but then your stuck running 12 inch wheels

#1...That 2-stroke rzr is trick! Better start another thread (I smell a hijacking! lol)

#2...If you are putting a gearbox together, hell yes the one-off parts are going to be pricey. Can't build these to order and be cost-effective. You'd have to prove it out, and then get a group-buy or just invest in a big order. If its more than $1k (USD), it better rival the RPM and Team Moto boxes. No opportunity to use existing parts off anything else?

#3...What kind of heat treating on the shafts?

Post subject:  Re: lt rotax fl350 project

I have no intention of building gearboxes for the price of an rpm box its not worth it, you cant build a good gearbox for less than 1000 anyways. I have a jackshaft setup that uses six spline farmer shafts which are off the shelf, you lose the reverse in trans but if you get a newer rotax like my 800 they have electronic reverse in the Engine

Post subject:  Re: lt rotax fl350 project

I figured that was the case. It's not a simple modification. I plan to build my own axle carriers but hopefully use common components. What is the spline count on the outside end of the razor shafts?

Emanuel,
Will your long travel still work with the original gearbox?
If I got a new centers shaft made, and used the outboard brakes?
Thanks.
