Trx450 vs new FL350 adapter mounting bracket

Designed to use a Nissin brake caliper from a Honda trx450r or trx700xx on the fl350r

I'm a bit concerned about your brake master cylinder setup.

On kart master cylinders there is a arm that pivots on the masters, looks like yours is just direct linked to the rods.

Yours it looks like when the rod pulls he rods for the masters may get pulled up, not in?

I did my first 20 minute ride last moday.. on a Track..
I used to make lap times with a Drakart with a 636 Kawasaki Ninja 4 cylinder... and what I can say for now is that it seemed just as fast..

I managed to shave more than 30 pounds from the original fl350r... I weight 170lbs.. and the Engine is about 45hp... power to weight ratio is in the very fun side.. without getting insane...

brakes worked good.. used them only at the end of the run.... more testing needed...

sound is great... thumper... 450 atv style..

accellerantion and shifting gears is awasome....
the real treat for me was the ultra plush front suspension... just plain sweet... and steering almost too light...

Getting ready a GoPro to film... it seems very very fast.. I will make some laptimes and record something to share... ASAP...

so far.. so good... i am riding again.

Ps.. wish I had a new Yamaha yxz1000r . but for now.shifting gears in my Klx450 powered YFZ450 air suspended..fl350r... seems just as fun....

Master cylinders are from a Tony Kart.. similar to these..
working good.. not verified on a steep downhill yet....

If you don t hear back from me in a few days.. do not use these... if all goes well.. i will report how good the brakes work...

ps.. front brakes are from a yfz450 and rear caliper is a trx450 nissin.. I made the math.. and all calculations seemed to match well.. I was breaking good in the first run on a track..

Great supplier.... saved me allot of work... and tabs are strong... Engine mounts.. steering... front suspension..radiator... shift linkage... all I used was tabs from aa.

Very cool build!

Your rack and pinion setup + Kart steering wheel is interesting. I haven't driven a fl350, but only fl400s. It seems most people who looked into doing a rack and pinion had two issues. The first issue is that if the rack was not fast enough, the steering travel would be reduced due to the size of the yoke and not being able to rotate it the full amount. The second issue is that if the rack is just as fast or faster, much more steering effort would be required than stock, which makes a day of riding more exhausting.

How much steering effort does that setup require compared to stock?

While I know that a rack that is 180 degrees from lock to lock would require less effort that a similar rack with the stock lock to lock travel (roughly 120 degrees), I don't know how that compares to the stock pivoting setup.

Regarding Steering....

I just had to limit the lock to lock..2oclock / 11oclock... otherwise it turned too much and I would see a wheel almost perpendicuar to the frame..risking braking a knuckle..

The Kart style setup is working fine... almost efortless.. My old drakart would be a musle builder... this feels light... could be due to camber caster setup...

anyhow to turn.. I use the accelerator pedal to make the rear end loose...drift.. and so far..proved to be fun.. My daughter told me. "I want to learn to drive.. but no drifting like you do with the Odyssey. .."

will try to make a video asap.. last atempt the goopro vibrated so much is not fun to watch..

I noticed that your tie rods are in front of your a arms and the brake calipers are in the back side of the spindle. Are the a arms on the opposite side as they would have been use on the ATV or the spindle is flipped? It look like it was necessary with the steering rack you are using. I can't wait to see a video of the drifting odyssey! :-)
