Picked this gem up from Mudbogger yesterday, has a bent frame but its all there. Cleaned the carb and had it running in less then an hour, now I just need to pull the frame close to straight.

Ha, there she is ha, great to see, let me know if you need anything like front suspension parts, rims, etc Brian. Please post befores and after of that front clip, it got a good bend in it for sure. I am just happy that the front plastics are all in good shape, did you need and rear fender brackets? Forgot to ask you yesterday!

I usual bring them to a body shop for repair honestly most eye it up or do what your doing measure twice. How does the frame look otherwise? Plastic come off ok?

Check that lower bushing on the steering stem Brian, they always seems to go bad after a hit like that. You can buy them on ebay from seller "ROOKY" might as well replace it now if it is bad. LOOKING good!!

everything came apart with ease, rest of the frame looks good. This thing is kicking my ass, keeps springing back no matter where i push or put heat. As always last resort will be a replacement frame

cracked the frame even with heat so made the decision to get the sawzaw out to relive some of the stress and cut the worst part out. were going to bend up some tube and make a new lower front frame section, then Ill convert all the a-arms (front/rear) to heim joints so I can compensate for the remainder of the twist and keep it from tracking sideways.

With the removal of the tubing will it square up Brian? Check the measurements by the seat mounts good place to start off for square, you will see if that section too is bent by measuring those mounts, square that up and the front will follow it with the proper welding. Remember that tubing is way thin and has been compromised already, some of the welds might be fatigued from all the years. When you do weld the new tubing in, make sure you put that steering column in, it will help in getting that frame squared up too, weld it wrong and the thing will be a real bitch to bolt back in-believe me!
I have a used Yoda +2 front Long travel kit that comes with heims, upper LT shocks mounts, Fox Air shocks, etc if your interested in going that route. Great build thread, sorry it was so bent but your really getting it into a runner for sure.
Also nice to have a welder as a friend too!!!! Need anything please call me!

Might be, Ive only run it for about 30 seconds as of now. Ill have to check it once im ready to run it longer.

As if today I've bought a replacement frame for it, still going to try and make this frame work but know I'll be able to ride while i do.

spent some time cleaning up the plastics today. Defiantly far from perfect but 100% usable.

purple power with a scrub brush, then once dry wipe-new (as seen on tv) from walmart. Stuff works great.

new frame showed up and I was able to find a few hours today to mess with the buggy. This thing hit something hard enough to break one of the trans mounts. also axles are froze in the trans so i drilled one with a 5/16 bit and have them soaking with some penetrating spray. its slow going as free time is hard to find but ill get it done.

I would only drill the stubs as a last resort. Try soaking then from the outside of the stub. New axles are like gold. I soaked mine for weeks and finally got the to pop out.

I have a tranny mount that broke just like that. I just had it welded up and it's held up fine.

Was it able to be welded with the tranny together, or did you have to take it a part because of the heat?

i already drilled one of the axles, worst case ill have to machine up a new cup/stub. As soon as i get the stubs out of the trans im going to try and weld this one up also.

Mine was done when it was apart but I wanted to inspect the internals anyways. viewtopic.php?f=118&t=14230

I just drained all the oil out and had it welded, I never had an issue. But it would be much better to take it apart and have it done.
