I have been looking for a trailer for a while. Found one Christmas weekend. It's a 1989 Hudson 16 foot deck. Trailer weighs in at 2000lbs with a carrying capacity of 10,000. Electric brakes on the rear axle only. It has sat for many years, has dry rotted rubber mounted on the Dayton motorhome wheels, dexter axles. The work begins to bring her back to life.

File comment: 12x2 brakes. Backing plate held on by 5 9/16 nuts.. Phew I was told some older Dexter units had welded plates.

Is 2000lbs normal for a trailer that size? Or is it made to pull heavy equipment?

No, that's pretty normal for an equipment trailer. In fact, I would categorize this as a "light equipment trailer". Looks like an i-beam frame. Good stuff.

It is an I beam frame. Hudson, I am told sells this standard as a 18 foot deck length trailer. They then have a 16 and 14 foot deck option and the original owner picked the 16 deck length option. I like the fenders as you can walk on the and use the corners as steps. The parts I am finding out are readily available. I do have a question about the brakes.... They now sell a standard kit that requires adjustment and a self adjusting drum kit. Anyone with thoughts on either?

Take a lot of pics when you re-do the brakes. I've got a 12x6.5 dual axle trailer I picked up a couple months back and want to add a brake to one axle. Axles have the 4-bolt mounting flange, so I'm good. :-)
