Yeah one of mine had the dreaded crack too, stock machine. Some were thinking that only the sled mod'd Odys had them.
I think it's due to being on the drive clutch side.Constant torqueing from the drive clutch grabbing belt and wanting to rip outa there.
That area is down low, often dirty, and often only found by chance.
Would be good for others to include that area for inspection a few times a year.
Imagine what could happen if left unchecked, powering around a corner, big drop off...yikes!...

2 out of 4 of mine had this crack. I intend to add these to my rotax build as well. I wouldn't want to see what would happen if it broke completely. It would be a bad day.

I found mine only because of a rebuild, while installing it all, doing the mounts etc.
I could'nt believe how lucky I was in finding my new Crack! It was kinda like spiralling around the tube.
Was about 75% around too,not much more to go.It also showed me how thin the tube walls really are.
Once you gusset it all, hope the forces don't migrate to the next spot...so keep keeping an eye on it.

Here Downunder,we have a national day for checking the battery on the ceiling smoke detectors.
Maybe an international day for Ody cracks?...CRACKED?
C-Check
R-Round
A-All
C-Clutch
K-Kchassis
E-Engine
D-Day :-)

That is definatly neon green. Looks like a nice paint job. What type of paint did you use? You will see it coming down the trail for sure. What color do you have in mind for gas tank, seat, and rims? Keep up the good work.

John, it looks fantastic! Who's idea was the color? It's definitely looking good, I bet someone around the homestead is getting itchy to ride it...

My son decided to go with the monster energy look. All the suspension and roof is black. The seat and harness will be black. The coils will be silver along with the axles and carriers. We will add black Plexiglass side panels and maybe a hood. The fuel tank is stainless steel. So I hope to polish it up a bit. The wheels are beat up around the edge. So I was thinking of making some weld on rings to reinforce the wheel. I'll probably paint those black and silver. Whatever we can do to make this as clean as possible without spending a ton of money.

A little more progress. Thank you Mudbogger for the wiring harness. After a little paint it cleaned up great! I'm still in the process of repairing the foot tub and seat. The engines getting a fresh top end. Shocks I will replace the seal kits in and get them painted up.

Post subject:  Re: fl350 burn project

We took a crappy seat I had and filled the cracks with expanding foam. Then a bit of silicone. To smooth it out. Sprayed it down with spray adhesive and laid black spandex over it. Just stapled the edges. It came out surprisingly decent.
